Anybody see this? Lauer and Couric each tried repeatedly to focus on the NEGATIVE while interviewing Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and New Orleans Police Chief, but both responded POSITIVELY. It's as if they suddenly woke up and realized that the mainstream press has been trashing them for the entire week and making them and their city look like complete failures, and now they've decided they are not going to put up with it anymore.

I cackled out loud when I heard the loooong pauses (after Barbour answered Katie)...she just didn't quite seem to know what to say next. Or else she was just STEAMING behind the microphone.

Why should anyone expect NBC's Today show to report on the Red Cross being denied access to victims by the Governor?
FOX News broke the story last night and this morning hasn't mentioned a word of it.
It never happened.

I am just wondering how many supplies Katie and Matt brought along with them. For the victims, that is. Not for themselves.
Any extra food? Any extra generators? Did NBC take up a relief drive amongst their employees before these two shipped out? did Katie and Matt donate any "used" clothing from the expensive and expansive wardrobe budsget?
Anyone?
Bueller?

THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU!
I think you may be wrong about that. NBC is beginning to believe the perky one is all perked out. Contract negotiations aren't going well. The Perky one wants to many perks.

The MSM's effort to pin the horrors of this hurricane on Bush are "deader than a New Orleans school bus."

That information has been known since the first of this week, not last night.

I think that you just coined a phrase.
Pulled a Nagin = doing nothing OR screwing the pooch very badly.

FOX News broke the story last night and this morning hasn't mentioned a word of it. It never happened. If the morning Fox crew mentioned it, I missed it by dozing back off. But you're right, if no one talks about it, the blame for not helping those people at those locations (the SD, convention center and elevated I-10) will be placed on FEMA, Brown and by extension, President Bush. I just hope this story doesn't die on the vine after Brit and Major Garrett exposed the state's being responsible for deliberate after-storm neglect of the storm victims.

You are more informed than I because I only heard it last night in Brit Humes interview with Major Garrett.
The MSM headlined last week that HOMELAND SECURITY would not let the Red Cross in not LA HOMELAND SECURITY. I also did not know the Governor had control of LA Homeland Security. I assumed it was under FEMA control.
I am pretty well read on current affairs and I missed this piece of news. How many others who only get their news in snippets know of this?

And another thing:
It is very damning for the Red Cross to be told not to take food and water to the Superdome because they did not want to "encourage people to go there."
They State office of Homeland Security wanted to get people out and were afraid that providing support would be a "magnet" attracting more displaced citizens of New Orleans
Please tell me where this was published before? I have read differing accounts of why the Red Cross couldn;t get into the Dome but never because if we feed them more will come.
IMO this is very damning. It needs to be shouted fromt he rooftops.
