New Orleans Mayor Faces Tough Questions
Washington Post ^ | 09/10/05 | Robert E. Pierre

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 9 -- Mayor C. Ray Nagin created many new friends and probably as many enemies for his decision to pointedly chastise both Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco (D) and the Bush administration for talking too much and working too little. Now, however, difficult questions are being directed at the mayor.

Until Nagin spoke out, Yancy Brown, a native of the Big Easy, had little respect for the mayor, whom he considered too corporate and too disconnected from the black community. "He wasn't acting like a brother," said Brown, 60, a former member of the Black Panther organization. But after Nagin defiantly told the feds -- and indirectly President Bush -- to get off their "asses" and do some work, Brown became a fan.

"That's what he's supposed to do," said Brown, who is still doing maintenance work at the Best Western at Poydras and St. Charles, where journalists covering the event have set up residence. "This place was in trouble, Lord have mercy."

This can't be downplayed forever. The truth wins out, unless we slack off. :-)

Nagin is a complete F'n moron...no matter what his skin color. If I was the Dims I would be embarrassed...more than embarrassed. If the Dims were smart, they would demand that Nagin resign. Luckily for the GOP, the Dims aren't that smart.

New Orleans Mayor Faces Tough Questions

Mr. Mayor:

Why doesn't George Bush like black people?

Which do you think is worse-- the President's incompetence, or his racism?

Do you hate the President more because of his faliure, or because he's a racist?

Why won't the President meet with Cindy Sheehan?

(Coming to CNN in the near future)

I wonder what this black panther thinks of Nagin letting the white tourists get on the buses first at the Super dome.

Exactly what I've been thinking..the conservative cause may take a large leap forward thru this...and the Dems know it.

I'm convinced this is why the Dems and MSM started screaming since day one. They knew their whole enterprise was in trouble.

WaPo made excuses for him.
If he forced the evacuation, where would he have put the people?
Read it........It's still Bush's fault!

This is still a pathetic story which seeks to defend Nagin more than blame him.

Tough questions?

That must be why the jerkwad is hiding out in Dallas, mugging for TV cameras.

God lord, the mayor of Dallas (a woman!) actually KISSED him!
Whataloadacrap!

Funny they didn't ask that question when the Feds came to take them out. BTW WHY does the City of NO plan CALL for them to use their buses to evacuate the poor and disabled if they had "no where to go"? How did the kid that took the bus KNEW to drive it to Houston?

There is just so much wrong in that article...

This Hogan was quoted as saying that the Bush Administration has the upper hand because they have a lot of minions out here to be on talk-radio and such and spread propaganda....BUT, the State of LA doesn't have a propaganda machine to get out their side..

I call BULL...what do you call the MSM, the Dems, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Oprah Winfrey...and the rest of the entertainment industry...

That is a bunch of hogwash...and, if you notice in the article, it is pointed out that Nagin had NO POLITICAL EXPERIENCE....but no one is calling for HIS firing, like they did Michael Brown, saying he didn't have the experience...even though he was the FEMA director for last years Florida hurricanes....

BTW, Nagin has been in Dallas for at least the last 2-3 days this week...he has been schmoozing with the Dallas Mayor Laura Miller....and he brought his family here before the hurricane..and his kids are enrolled in school here...

HE isn't working up a sweat in NO!!!

Um...I didn't see any tough questions, asked of the mayor. Only a reference to some, which were summarily ducked.

Oh well. Hope springs eternal.

I keep hearing that. Where the hell are they now? Baton Rouge, Shrevesport, England AFB would have been good places.

What a BS answer - where would they have gone? Like leaving them in downtown New Orleans is preferable to anywhere else.

These people need to be horse whipped.
