Ho Hum; Four Years After 9/11 Vincent Fiore

While the flood waters are pumped out of the condemned city of New Orleans, lost to the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina is the upcoming anniversary of an event which was wholly man-made, and of singular importance: September 11, 2001.

As the forth anniversary of that brutal and horrific day approaches, the politicians--mostly Democrats--and the old media, are preoccupied once again with the hunting of George W. Bush.

Not that I didn’t expect it, mind you, for let’s face it: “If a tree were to fall in the forest, with no one around to hear, does it make a sound?” We can leave that for academia and the philosophers to debate, but what would assuredly follow, and be dutifully reported, is that Bush himself cut it down.

But for all intent purposes, that’s where we stand in these “Divided States” today. After 9/11, 2001, we had the members of Congress signing “God Bless America” on the steps of the Capitol. Today, a few days after the largest and possibly deadliest catastrophe to take place since 9/11, we have:

This is Juliana McCourt (age 4) and her mom, Ruth Clifford McCourt. They both died on Flight 175.

This is Ruth Clifford McCourt and her friend Paige Farley Hackel (left). Paige died on Flight 11.

I knew both of these women. Ruth had been my wife's boss in the 1980s, and Paige was a friend of my wife's family.

I can't say I knew either of those women well, although I had seen them both socially many times. And I never met Ruth's little girl Juliana, who was a year older than my own daughter.

But even now, hardly a day goes by that I don't think of them and their horrible fate. Especially that beautiful little girl.

I just thought they should be acknowledged here on the anniversay of their deaths.

Seeing that little girl's smiling face just made me horribly sad and angry. My daughter was 3 on Sept 11 and she is 7 now, that it has been 4 years floors me.

I'm so glad we are pushing for reforms in the middle east.

Re: close the borders

Every President before Bush had open borders, and every President after Bush will have open borders.

The sooner you realize that that you have been, and continue to demand something that can not be done, the better off the Conservative Movement, and our great country, will be.

Sorry but yes it does. It KEEPS OUT those that you do not want in your country. Real simple acutally.

Yeah, that's true, but how long is that going to last in this atmosphere? You have many Republicans and democrats calling for SOMETHING to be done on the border(s)

There have been very little baby steps taken towards repairing the border situation, but more needs to be done. Time for the big dog in the room, the American electorate, to really step-up and command change, as they have been doing since 9/11.

The only way it changes overnight is if mustafah and company walk across the Texas/Arizona/etc border and blow up a city or something.

A scary thought, but a REAL one nevertheless. Bush had better act on this, or the Republican Party will be out of power, and the American people may have to "remember" another date besides 9/11

For their purposes, the MSM and Liberals find it convenient to forget 9/11.

Isolationism doesn't work.
Ignorant response. Closing the borders to illegals has absolutely nothing to do with isolationism.

Still in Washington, politics are FAR more important than doing what is right for AMERICA and its REAL CITIZENS. Sadly, putting a Marxist in the White House is not the solution to anything, and would just set this country up for a revolution of sorts...so what do we have? Not much. A President that wants ONE GIANT AMERICA at any price -- I cannot read what is being DONE TO this country any other way.

Yeck! This is like going down for the third time in warm maple syrup!
Soupy ,sentimental, fake patriotic,semi-liberal emotional nonsense. All the gushy feel-good silliness no one needs in a country still at war and reeling from a devastating natural disaster with a full half of the citizenry fully believing that their own President is some kind of war-mad criminal.
And you creatives thinking you can change it all with a Hallmark greeting card?

Anyone else notice that many of their fellow citizens have forgotten? Sometimes I wonder if America deserves to exist...
