Is 96.9 FM Talk ready to send morning man Don Imus back to the ranch?
Rumor has it the conservative yak station is fed up with the cranky cowboy's tired schtick and might send him packing next April when his contract with WTKK-FM is up.
And there's already buzz on the radio wire that Imus ``will be available'' when his gig at 'TKK is up.
``I don't see how that's possible,'' station GM Matt Mills told the Track. ``We'd obviously like to renew his contract when it ends in April. We plan to do that.''
Now, we know Imus fans won't be surprised to hear that there's no love lost between the talk station and its 5:30-to-10 a.m. yakker.
In fact, last St. Patrick's Day, the Big Apple blarneyman balked at blowing into Boston for 'TKK's annual ``Kiss Me I'm Imus'' live broadcast for advertisers and listeners. And it wasn't until station management got on the blower to Imus' syndicator, Westwood One, and talked tough that Imus finally showed at Fenway's .406 Club.
``It was him playing his games,'' Mills said. ``But he did show up and we all had a great time. It's the station's premiere event.''
Ratings-wise, ``Imus in the Morning'' isn't exactly a powerhouse for 'TKK in that all-important male 25-54 age group.
In the last five ratings books - Spring 2004 to Spring 2005 - the perennially PO'd morning man weighed in after WEEI's sports yakkers Dennis & Callahan; Howard Stern's strippers-on-parade on WBCN; and all-news WBZ-AM. Classic rock WZLX even beat him a few books back.
Perhaps 'BCN - which will be down a morning man when Stern takes his boob-athon to Sirius next year - will be interested? From Baba Booey to Bo Dietl? Do stay tuned!

I have written several letters to WTKK requesting they retire this buffoon as his show in no longer funny. The reason it is no longer funny is because he prevents his staff from performing parody while he goes on How-Weird Dean like diatribes. There are plenty of other syndicated morning shows that WTKK can use as a replacement if they are not inclined to create their own show. I hope they give this burned(/drugged) out old fool his walking papers.
He was once a refreshing maverick. Or so I've read. Just about everybody has that schtick nowadays.
I don't understand his appeal. Well, maybe to lefty anti-commonsense types.
The last time I listened to him was about two years ago. A car dealer donated a Hummer or somesuch, to some Imus
auction, and Imus was wondering whether the dealer was shafting him with the stripped down version, rather
than the top-of-the-line.
But someone else said something I agree with totally. Imus does great interviews. He sort of traps people into exposing themselves for who they really are. He does it best with MSM elite who would have you believe they aren't liberals.
Probably most of us (outside NY), became acquainted with Imus when he" shocked Washington with his raunchy jokes about the president at the radio-television correspondents' dinner in 1996". It was telecast on C-Span, and with both Clintons on the dias with him. Imus' favorite people now are the people who didn't desert him during that dark hour.
Good. That's one down. I guess drinking the anti-Bush koolaid didn't work for him.
Dang me! That is so funny but true!!! As soon as he has no more connections to the rich and famous (as she wanted to be a movie star,he helped finance some low grade movie she was in) she will be gone and in perfect position to be with whomever will help her next move in the scheme of things.
Imus is a man whose hatefullness has consistently slipped under the radar. He has made abusive remarks and commentary the hallmark of his humor. I have known a few others who have done the same, but they were just ordinary nobodies, not pretenders to the ears of thousands. I agree that it is time he slipped into radio history. By the way, what ever happened to that nanny who was suing him for dumping her in the dessert in the middle of the night? :)

Wow! Man, do I feel sorry for you. All I can figure is that you must live in a one station town (which plays only Imus) in north Alaska, cause anybody is better than his program.
In fact, I'd rather hear the Christmas chipmunk song played 2,000 times a day than hear Imus.
Here in Philly, we got a choice of Bill Bennett's Morning in America, which is cerebral but spot on, and Michael Smirconish, who is high energy mainstream conservative, and various other stations coming out of NY City.
Imus has literally had to sell his political soul just to get people to be guests on his show. He is a pathetic figure of someone desparately trying to lay claim to an American icon - the western cowboy.

If your post was an attempt at humor, I suggest you stick with your day job. None of your stuff even comes close to what Larry Kenny, Charles McCord and Rob Bartlett can do.

I turned Imus off last year during the election. The man has a schtik, but he is ultimately nothing more than a blow boy for the likes of Kerry, Clinton, and the rest excluding fat Teddy.

I e-mailed that idea to Imus last week - no reply.
It seems like such a logical and practical idea. If he were to get a large number of emails with the suggestion, he might at least address it on the show. Who knows, he may even do it.
Nah.
Too funny! I emailed the same idea to him after he was bashing Bush....suggested he offer up his ranch and help instead of just criticizing. No response here either.
