Can somebody please tell me what is the role of the state governor when there is a bunch of dead bodies in her state? Is she for real? She needs to give Nagin a call in Dallas and see if he can manage by email.
Can she not open a phone book and start calling all the mortuaries to start helping out? Oh yeah, all their hearses are parked next to the buses. My bad.
Her re-election campaign speech: "Elect Blanco. Tan, rested, and clueless."

She should "Bunny Up", and go into the stinking mass and get them herself.

Can she not open a phone book and start calling all the mortuaries to start helping out? There are resources via EMAC (the state-to-state mutual aid method) for something called D-MORT which is Disaster Mortuary Services. It's a phone call away. It is very apparent that a governor can't take 24 hours to make each and every decision. Rapid thinking and fall-back to the written plan is what makes it or breaks it. Case in point Mississippi vs. Louisiana.

To Blanco, the dead are more important than the living. Or perhaps, since they don't have to have water, food, security from the military, etc., they're easier to deal with.

The dead "deserve more respect than they have received," she said at state police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
She said...not sensing the irony of her pathetic statement.

Incredible! typical lib rant; without any connection to reality. Did we not just read, yesterday. . .that the Marines were frustrated if not furious, that Blanco would not allow them to 'enter' homes; but rather . .only look through windows/doors to find victims; dead OR alive.
Guess that did not look too good in print. . .and so this is her crafted response. . .
. . .another lying attack on the Bush Feds - for the purpose of her saving the impossible; her face.

I read where FEMA replied that they were just fine with her taking on the responsibility that was hers to begin with. IOW, it was the state's responsibility to sign the contract with the recovery company. Blanco doesn't want to spend a dime of her state's money. That's been the problem all along.

Would these be the 10,000 or so dead that Mayor Nagin predicted? Just compare his hysterical, incompetent, finger-pointing to how Rudy Giuliani handled 9/11. Considering the Mayor, the Governor, and Ms. Landrieu, I can't remember a more disgraceful, politically motivated response to an emergency situation.

Blanco: "I'm not sure what to do to prepare for the coming storm! Should we evacuate the lower Delta and New Orleans? Nah! Should we use the buses to evacuate the low income people who can't afford a car? Nah!"
Blanco after the storm: "It's taking way too long to gather our dead! I should have issued the order to evacuate and probably used the buses! Huh! What's that? Amtrak offered to ferry the folks from New Orleans with special trains! Oh! Sh*t! I really f*cked up!"

Someone should inform Blanco that gathering the dead and giving them a decent burial is mostly her responsibility.
