NEW ORLEANS
Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco lashed out at FEMA on Tuesday, complaining the agency is moving too slowly in recovering the bodies of those killed by Hurricane Katrina.
The dead "deserve more respect than they have received," she said at state police headquarters in Baton Rouge.
She said that the Federal Emergency Management Agency still has not signed a contract with the company hired to handle the removal of the bodies, Houston-based Kenyon International Emergency Services.
Calls to a FEMA spokesman in New Orleans and the Homeland Security Department in Washington were not immediately returned.
I wonder if the AG would prosecute her for negligent homicide.
Give that woman a rowboat and a grappling hook!
Hmmm.... I think we should all send her pairs of rubber gloves and a mask. Have at it guvner...
"I wonder if the AG would prosecute her for negligent homicide"
You are right. Her in a negligee would be directly responsible for multiple heart failures.
Probably an Art Major. Does anyone have her resume? Her logistical thinking process would make Tinkerbell and Dinah look like nuclear physicists. Nagin on the other hand has less mentality than a/an... ___________ (fill in the blank).
Does Blanco feel any pain from this 'truth'? Beyond pathetic!
If Blanco and Nagin had just loaded thousands of their people who had no way out onto the wasted buses of New Orleans, both city transportation and school buses, sent them up to Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, North Carolina and a whole bunch of others and called our governors and simply said, "My people are on the way", we would have taken them in. That's the pity. That they thought so little of US. We ARE taking them in. What did they think of us? Even if the levees hadn't broken, they could have spent a few nights with us in makeshift shelters and private homes here and then went back home to N.O. Now a lot of them are here to stay.
Miss Blanco,
Would you please
"SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN WHILE REAL PEOPLE WHO DO COME TO WORK ON SUNNY DAYS GET THE WORK DONE!"
I read where FEMA replied that they were just fine with her taking on the responsibility that was hers to begin with. IOW, it was the state's responsibility to sign the contract with the recovery company. Blanco doesn't want to spend a dime of her state's money. That's been the problem all along.
Would these be the 10,000 or so dead that Mayor Nagin predicted? Just compare his hysterical, incompetent, finger-pointing to how Rudy Giuliani handled 9/11. Considering the Mayor, the Governor, and Ms. Landrieu, I can't remember a more disgraceful, politically motivated response to an emergency situation.
Blanco after the storm: "It's taking way too long to gather our dead! I should have issued the order to evacuate and probably used the buses! Huh! What's that? Amtrak offered to ferry the folks from New Orleans with special trains! Oh! Sh*t! I really f*cked up!"
Well, they are one of her core constituencies.
Some have postulated that funds explicitly earmarked for these purposes can not be fully accounted for.
Someone should inform Blanco that gathering the dead and giving them a decent burial is mostly her responsibility.
I think everything she's done since the levee's broke was because she was taking orders from higher ups. I think someone gave her the GO SLOW order so they could use the after math of the storm to bash President Bush. When you add up everything she's done since the levee's broke, what other conclusion makes sense? None that I can think of.
Will she follow Nagin to Dallas?
From Fox News:
The Dallas Morning News reports that Nagin has already bought a house in the city, and enrolled his daughter in school.
BS in Education.
They could share the rail!
Since she didn't know what to do with her National Guard, does anyone know if she bothered to send any of her state police to New Orleans to assist in the recovery?
