The marine guards guarding the barracks in Beirut had the same order - the result - over 200 dead marines in an islamic suicide attack. Lesson Learned - when you deploy solders, either you trust them to be armed or don't deploy them...

Sounds like Gen. Mason needs to remove himself from the "ARMED" Forces. Because he obviously has forgotten a few things.

Sounds like Gen. Honore screaming at the National Guard arriving in NO that they should point their weapons downward or sling them over their shoulders to the rear.
That NO is not Baghdad.
What a pathetic bunch of leaders.

If a General can't trust his men, what good are they or he?
If a General won't trust his men, he makes them as bad as he.
A General must trust his men, and effect that trust, when it is lacking.

Wonder if the National Guardsmen whom this Democratic congressman used as personal escorts to his New Orleans house were allowed to carry fully-loaded weapons? They were probably disarmed. The congressman wouldn't have wanted to be surrounded by a bunch of armed men who were good and mad at him.

Flew about two or three weeks after Sept 11, 2001.
National Guardsman in airports were carrying M16A2s, also sans magazine.
Made a great object lesson for my kids.

This happens all the time. Rarely are guardsmen armed unless escorting equipment that needs protecting.
Not saying it is wise, just not unusual.

The failure to have armed people enforcing the law is what caused the crime before. Oh, sorry, those crimes are just "urban myths".

[PA Guard unit serving in LA ordered to remove magazines from rifles] This is nothing new. The libs did the same in Los Angeles with the National Guard at LAX in the wake of 9/11.
What's really sad is that it was so obvious. I just stared in disbelief at a guardsman until he finally said, "Can I help you, sir?" And I blurted out, "My God...you have no clip! You have no ammunition!"
"Move along, sir," was all I got as a reply.

If a soldier has a problem here, he needs to remove the magazine from the pouch, insert it in the weapon, pull the charging handle, aim the weapon, place the selector lever on "safe" and then fire.I suggest the soldier put the weapon on "Semi" or "Auto" if he actually wants to fire it.
