State treasurer Robert Vigil and former state treasurer Michael Montoya have been arrested on racketeering charges, an FBI spokesman said Friday.
FBI spokesman Bill Elwell said the arrests were part of a two-year FBI public corruption investigation, code named "Midas Touch.''
The investigation targeted corruption within the state Treasurer's Office, the FBI said in a news release Friday.
A grand jury handed down an indictment charging Vigil and Montoya with racketeering and interference with commerce by threats or violence, the release said.
The FBI and agents from the state Tax Fraud Investigations Division executed search warrants at the state Treasurer's Office in Santa Fe on Friday.
Vigil's home in Rivera and at Montoya's home in Los Ulnas also were searched, the FBI said.

After the Enron and WorldCom debacles I was watching Lue Dobbs on CNN and his financial show and he started this little scoreboard on private company CEO's and how many were arrested and/or going to jail.
I sent him an email that the most corrupt organizations today are politicans at all levels and, as politicans are found guilty around the country I send him those emails so he can have his criminal scoreboard of politicans.
I have checked in on him from time to time to see if he ever implemented his P.C.S. (Political Criminal Scoreboard) -
it might surprise you he has not.

Want to guess the political party involved! No need to guess. Since no party affiliation was mentioned, it's a virtual certainty that they're both Dems. Had they been Republicans, that fact would have been prominently reported.

Quite a number of these types of arrests lately. Maybe several years of chasing corrupt officials? More to come? I hope so.
