Thanks for the ping.
I knew we'd be a target soon.
We kept most of the wood on the windows until this past week. Now it looks like we're in the bullseyes.

I speak for many when I say you were in our thoughts and prayers before, during and after the storm. The storm threads are a FReeper community service - and a team effort by many. The Katrina Chronicles links (15 Parts) are located on my profile page. They provide a fascinating glimpse into the human response before, during, and after the storm.

p.s. If you can find it - Damp-Rid is a great product for drying out the home.

Could be. It looked impressive on infrared yesterday.

Haven't checked again yet today.

Katrina has already made Ivan and Andrew seem like relatively minor events, which they most surely were not.

We're simply not ready to absorb another one this year.

"The eastern edge of the forecast cone is disturbingly pointed at New Orleans.. This could easily be a Cat 3 by the time it gets over there, if it makes it over there.."

I just heard someone on Fox News say that 3 inches of rain could cause NO to re-flood.

Blam, I'm counting on you to distract this one from where it looks like it's heading.

I pinged just a few of you because I don't have a greater Houston pinglist.

Heads up! Rita may be visiting next weekend!

I don't suppose the Gulf has cooled off all that much since Katrina? I have no idea. I'm just curious. Geez... but another one in the Gulf.

Nope. Still bathwater temperature.

The Gulf hasn't cooled off at all. We're expecting 97 degree temperature days this week, and autumn starts on Thursday.

Katrina cooled off the north central gulf a little, but the western gulf is red hot.

It will take some shear to prevent her from hitting as a major hurricane.

I expect all cities of the Gulf will be going way overboard to anticipate any need during this season - I'm not saying that is a bad thing, just that no one is going to want to get caught with their pants down anytime soon..........

Let's hope so. I'm not holding out a lot of hope for LA, though. Not as long as all the usual suspects still have their day jobs.

I really don't know how any city of 4 plus million could expect to evacuate everyone, but I'm sure Houson is already working on that one! lol
