Unless and until KISS is righteously and honorably inducted into it: I have no use whatsoever for the RRHOF.

(... and, no, I am not kidding.)

While ELO can certainly be described as mindless pop..it was damn good mindless pop. "Eldorado", "Face the Music" and "New World Record" are true rock classics with some string arrangements that have never been equaled in R&R, IMHO.

Even so, Jeff Lynne, who really WAS ELO, should at least be inducted as a producer. His credits include mostly people who ARE in the RRHOF: All of the Beatles solo except Lennon, the Beatles on The Anthology series, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Eric Clapton just to name a few. He has an indelible mark in rock music, and has a sound all of his own.

Plus it is pretty well known in music circles that his is one of the nicest guys on the planet to work with, especially in the studio.

I used to be a voting member of RRHOF, but, just like the NARAS and the Grammy's..it is an absolute joke..the votes don't really count.

Missing from the nomination list again this year include bands like Rush, Van Halen, Yes, Genesis...

All of these should be included in the R&R HOF. I am surprised they are not already there.

Jann Wener, fag, has said Rush will never get in.

I don't know why, although Rush is very technically accomplished, their politics are just to the left of Michael Moore...

The 80's were a special era, with the Rise of Ronaldus Maximus, the explosion of the economy (giving early rise to the 90's dot.com era), the end of stagflation, the crummy fashions, when MTV showed music videos, good and bad movies, and the sunset of quality television.

I admit: I am a member of Generation Reagan, and proud of it. (It's not an age, it's a state of mind.)

"Too Much Pork for Just One Fork!" Yeah! And Roy can play blazing rings around a lot of these guys. Too bad more people don't know about him.

"Secret Agent Man"!! What a great tune!

Written by P.F. Sloan. Check out the great Jimmy Webb song, "P. F. Sloan." (Johnny Rivers recorded several Jimmy Webb songs; one of JR's albums, Rewind, was mostly Jimmy Webb songs.) The Association did a great version of "P.F. Sloan."

Jann Wener, fag, has said Rush will never get in.

Then I will never visit the place.

Jann said about Rush, "They will never get in or nominated as long as I live. What have they done besides Tom Sawyer? Nothing."

Let's not forget that Journey and Styx are not in the rock and roll hall of fame either and they have sold tens of millions of albums and lasted for over 30 yrs as well.

Ritchie making very decent acoustic/electric mix Medieval music now, seems happy with it...

I have a couple of 'Blackmore's Night' CD's, but don't own any of the Purple CD's with Morse...am I missing out?

I too remember the Sir Douglas Quintet coming up. They were on a local TV show in San Antonio almost every Saturday Morning playing their newest release, selling Big Red and flirting with a hot blonde chick named Cindy. The Cavaliers were also a hot band at the time. What memories. I remember the Five Americans on the show a couple of times.

One vote for the 13th Floor Elevators
If there is a Texas band that deserved the nod, it's them.

Check some of the Live CDs-there's an authorized bootleg called "Live at the Olympia" Pretty good mix of the old and new stuff

"Purpendicular" and "Bananas" are good studio efforts-Not necessarily classic Purple, but still has the multi layered, almost Orchestral flavor they have always been known for.

Morse is a great guitarist, lots of solo efforts and was in Dixie Dregs for a long time.

Jon Lord has retired from the band (He's over 60, I think Gillan just hit 60)-replaced by Don Airey (Rainbow) That has been a pretty seamless transition

"I don't know why, although Rush is very technically accomplished, their politics are just to the left of Michael Moore..."

Don't know about their personal politics, but I know Neil Peart writes a lot of music with a true Libertarian Bent to it. "2112" is an adaptation of an Ayn Rand novel ("Anthem")

I've always found their early stuff to be oriented toward the exercise of free will. Can't speak for anything past "Hemispheres" though-they had a change in musical style that still does not suit my taste-still a good band, just not what I like to listen to.

Interesting. Regardless. Gotta love Skynard. Even more so if it upsets the lefties.

The person who said it was about the Berlin Wall was correct. Glad to hear this. Fan of J. Geiles and would hate to think they were anti Vet. Thanks.

From what I understand, Devo are also leftwing, and that breaks my heart. Geeks should never be leftwing. I'm a geek, and I want my geek heroes to be as conservative as I am.

Why is Devo leftwing??? It doesn't make any sense!
