If he did give depositions, then I am mistaken. However, will he be forced to return and testify in ongoing litigation and criminal trials? And beyond the legal system, shouldn't he be made to answer to the people he served for his heinous behavior?

It seems to me that by allowing him to live the remainder of his life safe in the Vatican the church is once again invoking CYA. Isn't this fundamentally wrong?
