Has our president jumped on the give-away bandwagon too?
I apologize for the vanity.
Start with the federal budget.
Subtract defense spending.
The remainder is a good estimate of the amount of money that's wasted by the federal government each year.
(Some defense spending is waste, too, and some non-defense spending isn't, but I figure it's a wash.)
In the last 4-1/2 years, the federal budget has increased about 30% under PresBush. Even if you take out national defense and security spending, roughly 65% of the 2005 annual budget is being spent on a line item called, "Human Resources"....AKA. Welfare& entitlement spending. Face it. Bush is a big government Republican when it comes to spending issues.
He's going to take the money from the Highways to Nowhere Program and give it to the Underwater New Orleans Sinking Fund.
