Rather whimpered like a baby because he is a pariah and he knows it. Nobody, but nobody - - including his old buddies at CBS - - want anything to do with Rather. The rest of his days will be spent looking for speech gigs at liberal venues (mostly colleges) and hoping for the occasional interview request, which he can pretend to entertain for a day as if he's still a big star.
