Users running Firefox on Linux may be vulnerable to a security vulnerability that can be exploited to compromise the user's system.
Security firm Secunia warned on Tuesday that a flaw rated as "extremely critical" has been found in Firefox 1.0.6. The flaw can only be exploited on Unix or Linux based environments and can be fixed by upgrading to Firefox 1.0.7.

I do not believe this. It is not Microsoft so it must be safe.

They should do like Microsoft and pretend it doesn't exist until it becomes public info through another source.

i'll give those OSS people one thing. it is pretty hard to find a problem before they fix it. seems like every vunerability news artical also includes the fix for it.

Sort of off topic but FireFox related....I am running 1.0.6 on XP and when I refresh in the midle of a thread, I always end up at the last post and have to scroll back up to where I was. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix for it?
And yes, I am logged in. ;-)

Since you run XP, it shouldn't be an issue. The vulnerability affects only Mac OS and Linux OS system users.

As Linux gets more popular this is going to be common . It's not easy being bug free. I know it's FF, but...

Interesting. This flaw was fixed on 9/12/2005... yet Secunia announces it as a critical flaw on 9/21/2005.

either they(firefox) had a heads up to fix it or they(secunia) found out late and still wanted to post it. i don't plain them for posting it but the timing does seem odd.
