Roberts nominated 13-5 vote
C-span 3 | 21 Sept 2005 | EDCOIL

Posted on 09/22/2005 9:52:02 AM PDT by edcoil

I am watching a Cspan 3 of the vote. Hard to read the screen but it looks like a 12 to 5 vote for Roberts to be Chief Justice.

snopes has links to a couple articles here at FR, pointing towards a freeper that claims it.

I know. That's why I pinged bootyist-monk. He is the author of the Bad American piece. That item has been posted here so many times, it is hard to believe ANYBODY who has been here for longer than a week would not know that it's not Nugent or Carlin or Robin Williams or any of the other celebrities often attributed.

Rokke: Personally, I think the President ought to nominate William Bennett or Ted Nugent.
VRWCmember: Ted Nugent would never be confirmed after writing that "I'm A Bad American" brief.

On second thought, the demos on the judiciary committee are stupid enough to bring up the "Bad American" brief in the committee hearings and rail against Nugent for writing it. If nothing else, the comedy that would ensue when Ted points out to them that he didn't write it would be priceless. Bring it on. Nominate Ted Nugent.

Kohl and Feingold (D) (WI) can do arithmetic. Leahy (VT) is a surprise.
Bush lost Wisconsin by 12,000 votes (manufacturred).

This country needs a good laugh right now. And I think it ought to come at the expense of the idiots enthroned in Congress. I'm with you...bring it on.

I thought that Biden had already said he would support for Roberts because he made the best presentation ever before the committee. I guess that powerful Delaware liberals wouldn't let him do so.

I heard Kohl is a Dem that supports partial birth abortion and makes money to support this position off everyone who shops at "Kohl's".

Diane's up for reelection in 2006. She's got nothing to be concerned about from the GOP but she doesn't need to give the radical left here in Kommie Kalifornia and her home base of SF any reason to pitch a fit.

I had some respect for her but her how she handled impeachment soured me. She sometimes does the right thing (unlike Boxer).

Why vote NO on Roberts when you could vote YES and save your venom and NO for Sandy Day's replacement which is probably Leah's strategy?

I'm *highly* skeptical of Roberts' originalist credentials and folks like our own Tony Snow who have him all but walking on water and parting seas make me angry at their hubris. When he was O'Conners replacement it was an risky but acceptable move but with him replacing Rehnquist, it's likely not even as wash and probably a slight move leftward.

This all is just so much posturing over Abortion. When the real truth of the matter is contraception, of which abortion is only the method of last resort. "Those who live by the sword (ie:contraception) will die by the sword." Until we give up our contraceptive mentality we will be doomed.

Yes and they will win again and we will get another Sandra Day O'Connor. They all know in DC that this is a game to hoodwink the public. Roe will not be overturned because it is actually linked to the PILL. And we know the drug companies won't cave in.

And while we're at it let's not forget that we all need to have smaller families to make the Industrialists/Globalists happy!!!

Hey Rokke,
Those five would say Jesus was a right wing extremist bent on dstroying all human life.

They should be placed in GITMO along side their constituents, the musklums (terrorists).
