Just so you all know, Hundreds are not the same as Thousands.

I'm surprised CNN is covering it at all. It was a great rally....good CSPAN coverage today.

Big flippin' deal. All it means is that more of us supporters have jobs than the leftist commie pukes do.

sheer numbers doesnt make your side correct(see my tagline)

I thought our speakers made great sense and found the lefty rally to be a muddled bunch of specialist wacko groups screaming over oneanother to be heard

I was a good rally....and good of C-span to cover the whole thing, instead of cutting of coverage when it was scheduled to.

Another thing....as it was pointed out today...and at other times on Fox especially....the dems have "professional protestors" that make their living going from protest to protest.

That commie group Intl. ANSWER is funded by some high rollers and has been around for a long time...I have no doubt that the same people bankroll them and Veterans for Peace...and Cindy Sheehan....have spent major bucks to get these people there.

Our people are doing this on their own dime for the most part. I know that one of the speakers at least was supposedly helped by Sean Hannity, or he wouldn't have been able to be there speaking about his dead son.

Considering that a few states are busy putting there cities back together from hurricanes could also have contributed to a smaller crowd than expected.

It also means that their group of regulars are speaking for their own causes that have nothing to do with the war, but have to do with the fact that they know the media will give them exposure. You know that when most of them start out with "aSalem a Lakim" (sp) they are not speaking for true Americans.

All these are good points that should be made to the media every time they are covering a protest, and/or counter-protest.

However, a disapointing turnout is still a disapointing turnout. Our organizers shouldn't be talking big to the media about how many people WILL or MAY show up at a rally. Conservatives are not demonstrators or activists by nature. Many undoubtedly chicken out at the last minute, or are distracted, or whatever. It is something that we need to overcome, and perhaps are, however gradually.

I disagree with the other poster who used the tired, self-righteous, completely unproductive excuse that "our people have jobs." I'm sure many Rats who demonstrate have jobs too. Say what you want about them, they're not lazy. I'm not saying that we should be calling in sick to work. I am saying that giving up a weekend, or half of one, if you live within driving distance of a major FReep-type event is not a big sacrifice once or twice a year.

To rely on the "we have jobs" excuse on a weekend is a poor, poor substitute for the Spirit of 1776, to which we owe our entire country. It also must sound pretty hollow to the men and women who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq.

Jeff Sessions, Norm Coleman,Trent Franks,Steve King, George Allen etc

Who supported the leftys hMMmmmm Cindy McKinney?

The CNN story is an AP story. Same song and dance on Fox. They're too busy trying to find people to blame Bush for Katrina and Rita to cover anything else. A great line at the rally was that the crowd was small because we all have jobs. No Soros to fund us to attend a rally for our country.

Sure wish I could have been there!

Protests are only important to protesters. The rest of the country doesn't even notice them.

I have come to the conclusion that we should find other avenues to support the troops. We can never win in a numbers contest with the left; they have thousands of non-working students and paid political protesters.

We need to think of something that totes up the numbers on our side. I can't quite decide what that should be, but something which allows the left to bray about how they got more numbers than we did is NOT the right venue!

Smaller-than-expected gathering follows anti-war protest
I thought the anti-war people were going to have a million man march?

I beg to differ. Just because most Americans don't attend doesn't mean they aren't interested. And even if they aren't interested, they still notice on some level. It helps to shape their ideas of who has the energy, the self-confidence, etc. It may give more tuned-in people ideas of things they can say when they get into discussions. It provides examples of left-liberal arrogance and viciousness and lack of patriotism, and, we can hope, of conservative-patriotic intelligence, decency, and courage. I'm sure plenty of people were happy to see whatever coverage there was of our counter-rally. Ditto for those in the armed services and their families.

Even people who simply don't care about the issue will still notice. After all, I didn't give a rat's behind about the Natalie Holloway story. But I couldn't help hearing about it, and I now have a mental picture of it
and of how it was handled by the various participants, whether I want to or not.

I'm afraid your imagination, in other words, is a little weak here. Human psychology, and political pyschology, is more complicated than you think.

I think some value came of the rallys
Our team was on message though small in number.

The other Guys were a dissparate group of rabble rousers with messages all over the place. You could actualy see that many attending were embaressed. DU is fretting over the communist and Anti American messages that were sent.

Lets focus on the messages of the two rallys. lets use their own exposure against them
