The AMA has always sought to control the number of docs trained in America to keep earnings up. I wish they would train more Americans so that retirees like me didn't have to tolerate foreign docs that we cannot talk to.

The reason there is so many foreign docs is cause of the governments favorable immigration for these types of persons but mostly because young US citizens do not want to be physicians any more because of the government regulation, the threat of being sued, the high cost of insurance etc. You will never get anyone to treat your so called simple broken bone. That has gone. Even most FP will not do this. Not because they can't but because the lawyers have scared them out of the practice. You are blaming the wrong group. Even thought I have not love lost for the AMA.

While I'm no fan of the AMA, do you have any facts to back up your statement? I'd like to hear them.
This is not directed to anyone in particular, but I'm always amazed to see the attitudes on this board toward physicians. Most MD's are hard working, conservative small business owners, just the type of working folks that you would think those who read Free Republic would be supportive of.
