I actually think this was a mistake. They should have kept her in school so that she could see the difference between Christian families and non. But seeing how they handled it I would think that this might not be such a good example. I had friends graduate from that school too.
Unfortunately many of us forget if Christ was here today he would be hanging out in the castro district of san fransico. AND btw I would most likely be sneering and saying under my breath.... why is he hanging out with those obvious sinners?
forgive me Lord.
Jesus does not have a problem with repentant sinners, only with brazenly unrepentant sinners, such as these two "parents."
They handled it properly. There is just no way these Christian teachers could do their job and teach this child that homosexuality is sick and evil, that entire Biblical cities have been destroyed by God for committing acts like her 'mothers' commit every day, that co-habitation out of wedlock is sinful, without causing shock and life-long emotional and pyschological trauma to this poor little girl.
The girl would be in so much confusion and pain she'd need a therapist, and then there would be lawsuits. There will probably be lawsuits anyway; this was the vicious agenda of these lesbians in the first place. They used their 'daughter' as bait, and the school had no other choice but to expel the kid. Rest assured they consulted a battery of lawyers before they acted.
I think this is wrong thinking. As He was walking through the City, and maybe even visiting one of cool furniture store owners in the Castro, he'd say, "follow me" and he'd leave the castro. He never made his home in the midst of sin, and He always called people away from their sin. He never winked at it. He never condoned it. He had people choose to be "forgiven and healed" and to "go and sin no more." There wasn't usually long discussion of it either, He gave a choice and let people go that didn't want to leave their sin. I think you're right though, that a lot of our churches (and Christian Schools) would wrinkle their noses at who Jesus befriended and changed along the way.
>>he would be hanging out in the castro district of san fransico<<
Ministering to them about sin, repentance, and going forth to sin no more. Not affirming their lifestyle and trying to "start a dialogue about tolerance".
