I now think the criticism of McCain is unwarranted. He is a war hawk, he met with her, and she was totally ungracious after the meeting. The media won't go after McCain as it would Bush, and Sheehan ends up criticizing another one of their sacred cows. She hurt her cause because this made it clear that McCain is not on board. And he learned up close that she is a cunning stunt.

McCain once again fulfilling his publicity hound propensities. He meets w/Cindy to differentiate his approach to that of the Prez's, and at the same time makes sure he disagrees with her, knowing she'll come out of the meeting saying that, and hopes it will look good with the base. So he appeals to the center by meeting w/her, and attempts to look good to the conservative base by repudiating what she says. A twofer from his perspective. That is, if the base is stupid enough not to figure this out. He can snooker the middle who don't know better, but not those in the political know. We're onto McCain, bigtime.

I'm not so sure in this case. Everyone knows the media loves McCain...and she's suggesting that HE is a "warmonger" who simply says what Bush says. I think that Mother Sheehan is rapidly becoming known for what she is....WAY, WAY OUT! When she misrepresented the make-up of the group that met with him AND he apparently reiterated the need to finish the job in Iraq, I think he comes off better...and she comes off worse...IF that were possible.
