AGAG is not acceptable for several reasons. When the President has had the worst summer of his Presidency and his lowest poll numbers is not the best time to piss off his loyal base.

This is all a big distraction.
It's a chick's seat and a chick will sit in it. They may as well paint it pink.

How to make his acceptable to the base? During the hearings, have him tell Chucky Schumer and the rest of them that he's ready to overturn Roe because it was badly decided and has damaged the entire judicial process.

How to make Alberto Gonzales acceptable to the base.Easy. Have him moved to Mars.

And then have him denounce his affiliation with the racist groups like LaRaza and LaMecha. Oh wait a second the GOP supports racist groups today...another reason never to vote for RINOs again.

"But in the case of a very good and close friend of Dubya Bush], Al Gonzales..."A totally inappropriate choice, and for the wrong reason.
The Conservative base will flip out and NEVER trust the GOP to do the right thing ever again if Dubya choose a pro-choice SC judge.

Gonzales = pro illegal aliens = anti national security = unacceptable, unrehabilitable.

He would still have to recuse himself from many of the important post 911 cases. That is reason enough not to appoint him to this position. He already has a very important job in the adminstration.

The only problem is that it is known how Gonzales ruled on parental consent in Texas. It's matter of rhetoric vs. reality. It will not fly with this nomination. If they want to try when or if Stevens or Ginsberg retire or dies, such a strategy might have a better chance of working.

There are other credible candidatges not connected to the President.
Let's not plant pro-AGAG documents to gloss over the architect of the Patriot Act, okay?

Gonzalez can say whatever he likes, and I wouldn't believe him for a minute. He is pro-abortion, pro-illegal immigration, pro-affirmative action, and generally speaking a dead loss. Who on earth could make him stick to any promises he might make now? He can lie his head off, and there would be no way to remove him.
Forget it. Bad idea

Perhaps if he wrote that the purpose of the second amendment is to keep government employees in fear of angry citizens, and therefore most gun laws are unconstitutional, I might lean more his way.
