After speaking at a convention to honour the pro-euthanasia physician who pronounced that Terri Schiavo was in a persistent vegetative state, Terris estranged husband and killer, Michael Shiavo, drew a standing ovation.
Michael Schiavo, speaking at an ethics convention honouring Dr. Ronald Cranford, who is retiring from medicine because of a cancer diagnosis, spoke publicly about the euthanasia of his wife Terri for the first time since her death in March. Terri didnt die an awful death, he claimed. He said that, as Terri died, he laid a red rose in her hand and said goodbye, according to a North Country Gazette report.
Pro-life protesters, meanwhile, lined the streets outside the convention centre.
Terris brother, Bobby Schindler, contradicted the peaceful death claim. Terris life ended after almost two weeks of suffering without receiving any food or water, without receiving ice chips to help ease some of the pain she was experiencing, he said at a pro-life conference in Phoenix. Please believe me when I stand here and tell you that as a witness to my sisters . . . suffering for 13 days by starving and dehydration that [it] is absolutely sickening -- it is wrong and needs to be stopped, according to a report at prolifeblogs.com.
Brother Paul ODonnell, a Roman Catholic Franciscan monk and spokesperson for the Schindler family, was also outide the ethics convention and addressed the crowd in Minneapolis. Addressing Dr. Cranford as he walked by, Brother Paul said that he was there not to celebrate what you do but to speak out against it and Im not going to go away. He promised that there would be people rising up to confront this Culture of Death.
One day he will face his ultimate Judge.
Why was the media outraged over the deaths of 40 elderly patients who died because of Katrina?
Starving isn't a "bad" way to go, they told us.
Besides, it wasn't a "quality" life they were living.
so hey MSM..what's the big deal with some "tortured" muslim islamofacists then?
Mike Schiavo looks like the creepy husband in a Lifetime movie of the week. For that matter, George Felos looks like the creepy husband's even creepier lawyer in the same movie. They'd be perfectly cast if Lifetime ever did a movie on the Schiavo case. That is, except for the fact that they aren't acting.
Great point!
Michael Schiavo, regardless of what he says, is one tortured person.
You can't do what he did and actually "enjoy" anything.
More justification doesn't alleviate his guilt. That he has an audience proves nada.
Nothing like a little libel to start off a story and turn off a reader!
One day he will face his ultimate Judge.
Don't tell that to those who want to do the judging for themselves!
We thought the same about Ms. Sheehan, too! But she's going to need a source of income when her son's insurance money runs out! Maybe the two can host joint protests should their paths meet during their cross-country grand tours. The "bioethicist" and the smiling 'grieving' "pacifist." What a combination! Snuff out lives, but hey, save lives, too! All perfectly "logical" to the liberals who want it all!
I shake my head at this little tale every time I hear it.
Doesn't anyone question how hard it might be to "lay a rose" in a hand so contracted that the
nails were digging into the palm?
Bump for Terri's precious memory.
I don't want these threads to die, either.
