"Compare this to the visits of Bush and Cheney, who came on the scene well after the disaster struck, clean and unrumpled, and walked around the area amid a throng of reporters and photographers, but very few actual victims."
Subject: "Everyone needs to read this about Al Gore!!!"
cm) So I thought I would post most of my reply here on Free Republic:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

News article quoted on this big-liberal blog: "Al Gore leads Charity Hospital airlift"

"Compare this to the visits of Bush and Cheney, who came on the scene well after the disaster struck, clean and unrumpled, and walked around the area amid a throng of reporters and photographers, but very few actual victims."
cm) From The Epoch Times: "President Bush Pledges Aid for Florida Hurricane Victims"
http://english.epochtimes.com/news/4-9-9/23169.html
"President Bush and his brother, Florida Governor Jeb Bush, briefly helped volunteers distribute food and water to hurricane victims in the hard-hit town of Ft. Pierce, about 200 kilometers north of Miami, where Hurricane Frances came ashore several days ago."
cm) ..but the democrats & the liberal biased mainstream press rewarded them with criticism, not praise, because they are republicans and therefore all they ever do is evil...
"Mr. Bush's visit was criticized by at least one Florida Democratic Congressman, who called it a "photo opportunity." Speaking last month during his visit to survey Hurricane Charley damage, Mr. Bush said he would be more harshly criticized if he failed to visit the site of a natural disaster."
cm) I don't hear the press reporting Gore's help as being just "a photo opportunity".
cm) From your:
http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/9/7/164747/4155
"... Gore leads..."
" ... Gore airlifted ..."
"... Gore called..."
" ... Gore for help... "
" ... Gore had phoned... "
cm) I'm sure that in Hurricane Frances *and* Katrina *and* on and on and on ......
"... Bush leads..."
" ... Bush airlifted ..."
"... Bush called..."
" ... Bush for help... "
" ... Bush had phoned... "
cm) But that doesn't fit the "hate Bush" template. The liberals and the much of the mainstream press decided long ago that Bush is the center of all evil in the world.
( 09-29-05 adding this: And I can hear the liberals complaining "Oh, but see, he only helped passing out food and water "briefly"... but if he were there longer, the liberals would complain that the dumb Texan should be co-ordinating the work, not actually doing it. Bush can't do anything to make the liberals think he is anything but sub-human. )
Much of the liberals and the liberal biased mainstream press despises republicans and does all it can to say anything negative about republicans, especially prominent republicans, and of course all democrats are always pure and perfect, and liberals looove. . . . to hear it.
Yep, those nuvoliberals sure hate Bush.
There's a way to damn Bush if he does AND if he doesn't.
Right, like how at first Bush was condemned for being on vacation in Texas during Katrina instead of in Washington, then for not being in N.O. immeadietly after Katrina, then he was bad for wasting jet fuel to fly over on Tuesday.....
I'd wager, though, if he ever runs again, this event will resurface in a campaign ad.
Then I heard criticism that the President was not wearing a suit when he spoke from New Orleans.
What must it be like to be so consumed with hatred that it permeates every moment of every day?
The Best Part of Gore ran down his daddy's leg!!!!!!!!!
Which is why he is why!!!!!!!
Re the picture in post #7.
Gore looks like he's got a "stiffy"
But that's just me, I guess...
Outrage of the Week (07/30/99): Gore Up A Creek'
Vice President Al Gore's Presidential campaign, already drowning in the polls, was forced to deal with a flood of bad press this week following another public relation blunder. When Vice President Al Gore visited New Hampshire last week for a four-mile photo-op of him paddling along the Connecticut River, he needed a little help staying afloat. The Washington Times reported that nearly four billion gallons of water were released from a nearby dam before Gore's publicity stunt to ensure that Gore's canoe wouldn't hit or scratch bottom during his environmental photo-op. The release of the water --which raised the water level eight to ten inches -- irritated John Kassel, Director of the Vermont Department of Natural Resources. "They won't release the water for the fish when we ask them to, but somehow they find themselves able to release it for a politician," said Kassel. "The only reason they did this was to make sure the Vice President's canoe didn't get stuck." Remember that next time al Gore gives a speech bemoaning the squandering of our natural resources.
"Gore looks like he's got a "stiffy" "
Gore IS a stiffy!
Not a problem..
Truth is, he just poached a trout.
Note for the record: Al Gore has no JOB! He has plenty of time to spend hours, days, and weeks if he chooses to assist in any capacity he desires, and his help, like all other assistance, is welcome.
You cannot, however, compare and contrast the individual effort of a jobless former politician and current administration officials - they have responsibilities that require attention every day, regardless of natural disasters. There is still a morning security briefing, there are still legislative planning sessions, the state dept, defense dept, commerce, HSA, Treasury, AG, and other agencies wtill have jobs to do and still need input and direction from the top.
Sorry for the rant, I just get so tired of the lack of realistic context I see from the left.
