I don't like any of the recreational drugs or their worshippers because this just plain and simply weakens our people and country IMO. We need family, work and maybe even oil to fuel this engine of Democracy, we sure as hell never needed recreational drugs.

It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to be pushing recreational drug use. We can do very well without the drugs and I think Bennetts comment about crime being reduced could equally apply to the regular illegal drug users as well. :-)

And we'll get the job done, even if it takes ever right, freedom, and dollar we have.

Someone, somewhere might be getting high right now!

Our founding fathers, were they here today, would demand that we use every resource available to keep that from happening. Even lies and tyranny.

People have always used mind-altering substances and always will. To make criminals out of them is wrong.

"False. Marijuana can cause paranoia, panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Heavy marijuana use has even been linked with increased aggression, rebelliousness and violent behavior."

Correlation is not causation. Those who are prone to heavy marijuana use are also prone to aggression, rebelliousness and violence. They share a common personality type.

I'm a libertarian but the jury in my head is still out on this issue. Both sides raise very good points. I hate the idea of being able to go to Walgreens and buying couple of joints ... but I hate the idea of drug dealers getting rich, too.

Yeah, we know... and it makes young white girls have sex with colored jazz musicians.

And did you know that masturbation makes you go blind?

I'm surprised the Beer cabal hasn't gone after Merck and company over the mass introduction of anti-depressants into the mainstream of America. That stuff will flat knock out any cravings for alcohol. Yeah I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

/seriously though
//the cabal doesn't want any competition

QUESTION 2: Marijuana is not addictive. True or False? False. Research shows that marijuana is addictive. In fact, more teens enter treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependency than for all other illegal drugs combined.

False premise. MJ is no more addictive than your favorite TV show or your favorite food. Only psychologically. Anyone that says otherwise is a liar.

I've had a look at the article, and at the linked website, but I can't seem to find any citations for the research referenced.

Not exactly breaking news. It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to be pushing recreational drug use.

It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to advocate regulation and criminalization of behavior that takes place withing the privacy one's home that doesn't pose a direct theat or danger to anyone else. Personal freedom and responsibility are conservative ideas; government regulation is for liberals.

"It is NOT a conservative behavior IMO to be pushing recreational drug use."

I'm a little torn on this one. I'll admit, at one time I used marijuana. I take issue with the answers to #2 and #4. Anything can be addictive to a compulsive personality. I never knew anyone who was additcted. Marijuana use can lead to depression, but users most often are just robbed of motivation. Very insidious.

One must be careful about the information used. If it's false or a half truth, it by default helps the other side.

Marijuana can be like alcohol. If used properly, it's not destructive, but it's never helpful. (I do drink by the way).

I tend to be a little more libertarian on this issue. I think the use of alcohol and drugs should be discouraged. Kids should be educated, parents should participate. But, I think it should be left to adult choice.

Among kids who use drugs, approximately 60 percent use marijuana only.

So much for the "Gateway" Theory.
