QAIM, Iraq (AP) -- About 1,000 U.S. troops, backed by attack helicopters, swarmed into a tiny Iraqi village near the Syrian border Saturday in an offensive aimed at rooting out fighters from al-Qaida in Iraq, the country's most feared militant group, the military said.
The assault, the latest in a series of major operations this year by U.S. forces in the heartland of the Sunni-led insurgency, targeted the village of Sadah, which the military said was a base for al-Qaida militants and foreign fighters entering from Syria.

That said, anyone can post anything on FR, but until they've been around a little longer than a week their postings will be suspect.
Those identified as Trolls get nuked, those who actually add substance to our forum gain credibility and are listened to by fellow Freepers.
I sincerely hope you are who you claim to be and if you are you'll be shown the respect due to a Marine.
Isn't it about time some Syrian troops "fired on" the Marines?
I have been on and off of this forum for a few years. As anyone knows the internet allows you to be a say anything.
Most of you will probably not like some of my view points on the insurgency operation we are involved in, feel free to critisize. And yes this is my third time. And it has gotten dumber and dumber. And as the repeaters like myself, continue to come here again and again, expect to hear some challenges to the current situation that will probably make some folks upset at FR.
If anyone could tell me how muslims going to vote will make our country safer I am listening.
That would include Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Absolutely. I'm more concerned with Saudi, Iran, Egypt, Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia than with Jordan. But they are on the list.
I have read it. It is a good read that I found did not confront directly the role that islam plays in any culture it resides in and around. I think we allowed our selves into being deluded that a democracy here equates to safety back home.
The place I am in everyone would vote to cut off my head.
Fire em up, troops! Fire em up!!

Take photos, find out who these people are, and interrogate them.
Right now us leaving Iraq as an al-Qaeda paradise and industrial center will contribute significantly to the lack of safety at home. It simply is not a viable option.
There are places in Iraq that are very religious, and there are places that are not so. You might be interested in reading this latest survey of Iraqi businessmen:

God Bless you, yut, and we'll pray that HE will keep you safe. Terrorism is a zero sum game. You're in the game and we're rooting for and proud of you. We need to win this one at all costs.
Ramadi is no where near Syria.
By the way, we are not hearing much about Ramadi, but something is happening there.
Al Qaeda exist in many places besides Iraq, including the west. It has been a marriage of convenience between the sunni tribes and AQ. At the end of the day we could be here for a 100 years and still have AQ with the current approach.
But AQ is not why I am here, setting up a muslim democracy is, after tossing out Saddam and the WMD. And once again how does a muslim getting to vote make us safer. Do not think I am advocating leaving though.
I am now currently in Ramadi. It is all part of the 2MarDiv AO. It is intresting to read and see us in the news. It is business as usual here.
I know many Marines, officer and enlisted alike. None of them would do what you're doing here.
Ahh, so now I am negative.
What I want is to win.
Please be free to point out any inaccuracies and save the just shut up and take it crap.
So, you are left with 2 things here:
1) You can't leave without finishing the mission because al-Qaeda will gain too many material and political resources with which to attach your homeland.
2) You have a very moralistic and humanitarian goal which may be achievable.
you get rain?
We get rain, but it is not yet the rainy season.
What I challenge is that oppression leads to extremism. The most extreme of these terrorist are coming from middle to upper class families, many educated and living, born, and raised in the west.
I absolutly do not advocate leaving. Just think it is very implausible to assume that islamic terrorism will decline with the ability to vote in the middle east.
Mate, I agree with your take on the broader picture. Good luck though
