Congressman Calls VP Too Old and Sick For the Job (So Says the 75 Year Old Charles Rangel)

NEW YORK (AP) _ For the second time in recent months, the dean of New York's congressional delegation has questioned whether Vice President Dick Cheney is fit for the duties of his office.

In an interview in August on NY1, the New York City-based all-news channel, Rep. Charles Rangel suggested that Cheney might be too sick to perform his job.

On Friday evening, Rangel was asked in a follow-up talk on the station if he thought Cheney should step down.

"He should never have stepped up in the first place," Rangel said. "He's too old for the job and doesn't have the experience."

Later in Friday's interview, Rangel finished off a list of problems he had with Bush administration policies by adding: "I would like to believe he's sick rather than just mean and evil."

The issue first came up when Rangel was interviewed on Aug. 27 and asked if he thought that President Bush was taking too much vacation time.

"Oh no, it makes the country a lot more safe," Rangel said. "The further Bush is away from Washington, the better it is. And sometimes I don't even think Cheney is awake enough to know what's going on."

Rangel then pointed out that Cheney has heart disease.

No doubt Rangel's hero, FDR, was just fine in his wheelchair while he and the media covered up his paralysis.

I think Charlie Rangel is a bitter angry old racist who can't get over the fact that he will never be Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Ignore him.

hey charlie, bull o'connor (sic) lived to be seventy-six, so the clock is ticking on you.
go back to your plantation and take care of your slaves, because the more you open your mouth, the more they are running away from you and your fellow plantation owners:
master jesse, master rev al, master swimmer, madame beast, etal.

Cheney is 11 years younger than Rangel.
Maybe the old socialist should take his own advice...

True, Rangel is 11 years older. But VP is a demanding job. OTOH, it does not take any intelligence, ability, or awareness of the World to be a Congressman. Charlie Rangel proves that every day...

Rangel&Company are afraid that after all, Cheney just might be the next Republican nominee. They are trying to hustle him off the stage early.

This is why the democrat party is falling apart. With no policy ideas on the major issues facing the nation, all they can do is toss silly rocks at republicans.

Pathetic.

Rangel is sick in the head. That's worse than any ailment Cheney has.

Gotta love these representatives from the party of "tolerance." Evidently, to the Dems, if your health is less than perfect, you should be put out to pasture. This is in line with a Katie Couric interview in 2000 with Cheney where she pretty much took the same angle. Evidently, she loves mothers who kill their children but has no tolerance for people with bad hearts.

These are timed events normally before hit pieces put in the press by the liberal sycophants

Excellent observation

I don't think the liberal left fear Cheney at all. They know he is highly unlikely to run in 2008, his only purpose for the left is to use him as a tool to weaken Bush.

If Cheney were to die, within hours the moonbat left would be dancing on his grave instead of praising him for his long and distinguished service to his country.

Certainly true with respect to Cheney. But maybe old Charlie's right. Maybe it's time to implememnt Plan B, in which Cheney retires for health reasons and GW nominates Condi Rice to finish his term.

Rangel is just afraid that Cheney will be too much of an influence or maybe become President. Or he is just trying to brainwash the public as usual.

Just a few weeks ago they were being critical of Bush being TOO fit.

I suppose Rangle's idea of fitness is fellow NY'er and part time Goodyear blimp, Jerry Nadler?

Perhaps Mikey Moore is the paragon of fitness?
