Last week Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wrote in The Bee that the special election is his attempt to "finish what he started." It's true - from Day One, Schwarzenegger started bringing the Bush agenda to California, and his wasteful and costly special election is his attempt to finish what he started.
From the day he took office in 2003, Schwarzenegger started dragging California down the path of debt, division and diminished opportunity. Now he says his special election this November is his "sequel to the recall." As anyone from Hollywood should know, sequels are always worse than the original, and this one is an absolute flop.
Sell It Yourself He is a failed governor, a photo-op politician who has left an endless trail of shattered promises and missed opportunities. Instead of moving our state forward, he has used nurses, teachers and firefighters as partisan punching bags. Instead of investing in California's promise for the future, he has deeply divided our people.
Just like President Bush, who promised to be a "compassionate conservative," Schwarzenegger told Californians he was a different kind of Republican. Yet from the start, Schwarzenegger has governed from the right-wing playbook of Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and presidential adviser Karl Rove. Now the sheep's clothing is off, and it has exposed the Bush agenda that has always lurked beneath the governor's mask of moderation.

If anything, Schwarzenegger has been far too liberal.
Really? That's a pretty incredible charge. I mean...have we seen that sort of conduct from ol' Arnie before? Hmmmm...
Ping-a-ling to a great Arnold bashing article, you are going to love it!
Of course, it was written by Democrat Angelines, but it seems like he hates Arnold about as much as you do, so I am sure you are going to enjoy it.
Phil Angelides writes like he's posting a diatribe to FR. Is this his stuff, or does he have a ghost writer?
You can go as low as you want to go, FO. We won't stop you.
Maybe Phil is a ghost.
Zombie would be my guess.
Here is another gem from Angelides, urging votes AGAINST Prop. 76 and the rest of Arnold's initiatives. Where have I read similar stuff before? ;)
====
"Just as Bush has run up trillions of dollars in federal debt and now says future generations must live within their means, Schwarzenegger has borrowed billions and now is sponsoring Proposition 76, his ``Live Within Our Means'' initiative. This proposition would reduce the voter-approved, minimum-funding guarantee for schools by about $4 billion and open the door to further cuts.
Schwarzenegger campaigned on a platform to protect education and vowed to suspend or delay the voter-approved minimum funding guarantee for California schools, in his own words, ``over my dead body.'' After already suspending the guarantee and shortchanging schools by $3 billion, his new initiative would cause additional harm.
And it gets worse. Proposition 75 is part of a national plan pushed by Bush, Karl Rove, Schwarzenegger and their special-interest allies to weaken the ability of working people such as teachers, nurses, police officers and firefighters to participate in our democracy, while large multinational corporations remain free to supply the governor's war chest with campaign cash.
Californians should reject Schwarzenegger's initiatives so that we can move forward and focus on the real challenges facing our great state."

There I cleaned it up a little. LMAO, Go Arnold!
Yeah, a future of tax increases!
I've fought to balance the budget and not bust it, to expand education and not hamper it, and to take on the special interests, not cater to them.
Except for your special interests, right Phil?
Angelides vs. Schwarzenegger. Tax-and-Spend vs. Borrow-and-Spend. What a pathetic choice.

Schwarzenegger. "Borrow-and-Spend"
===
Oh, I guess you missed his Prop. 76, which is a spending cut, "spend within our means" initiative.
Oh, I guess you missed his Prop. 76, which is a spending cut, "spend within our means" initiative.
With respect to Prop 76, apparently you did. From Prop 76 text:
(B) The Legislature may provide by statute for the issuance of bonds by the State or local agencies, as applicable, that are secured by the payments required by this paragraph. Proceeds of the sale of the bonds shall be applied for purposes consistent with this article, and for costs associated with the issuance and sale of the bonds.
I was however, referring to more than Proposition 76. Have you forgotten about the $15 Billion ($30 Billion w/interest) Prop 57 and Prop 58, already? What about his endorsement for $3 Billion ($6 Billion w/interest) for embryonic stem cell research. Or his $ 1 Billion in Indian Gaming bonds? Or his borrowing to pay for pension contributions? And are you ignoring his grand new Plan that Tom Campbell revealed last week to borrow 10s of billions more?
I really suggest you read this article and take it to heart: Such a Deal - Californians have a history of buying ballot measures that are deceptively written and advertised, Orange County Register, February 29, 2004.]
Or, you can read some key excerpts here. You seem to be a perfect example of what they describe:
...those selling propositions don't want you to think too much, they just want you to vote for the one that feels right.
