"I'm not as worried about a nearly two decade old political contribution as I am about Reid, Schumer and Feinstein's reactions."

That is the reason I am withholding judgement right now, as well. Susan Ostrich was on Greta last night, and she was absolutely delighted with the pick. Now, if all of the good things being said about Meirs are true, then why are so many dems pleased?

Some have suggested that this is a strategy being used by the dems to throw us off. It's possible, I guess, but it does not seem likely to me.

I do support President Bush, but I feel like we are missing something here. Hopefully we will find out soon what it is, and everyone will feel better.

I agree with you. I'm sure that we're going to find something out over time. However I doubt that whatever it is will make everybody feel better. I would like to think that I could trust President Bush to make a good choice. However his inaction over the borders, his willingness to hold court with political correctness in the war on terror, his out of control spending, and his apparent lack of resolve for a gay marriage amendment is making me think that we're watching the final emperor fiddle while Rome burns and that with the next election we're going to be entering a new dark age of democratic rule. With the demographics being what they are, I don't see how we can avoid it.

John 9:4: "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."

Fear of the unknown brings doubt to even the faithful. Have hope. God will give this nation the leaders and authorities we deserve according to His will. Now we must ask ourselves "What do we deserve?" As you look over this land of ours, ask yourself, "What does God think of America?" Will He choose a leader that will be righteous so that we may receive the blessings of a righteous leader? Will He put in place someone that will bring us to our knees, hitting the rock bottom of debauchery? Which ever He chooses you can bet it will be "just what we need and deserve". Have hope. God works everything to the good for those that love Him. Even if we can't see or understand it.

(Ro 13:1-2) 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

I think the scum are lying. They do that well.

When Schumer the anti-God found out that she was an Evangelical Christian, I'm sure he had a fit.

I wouldn't worry about what any of the dems say. None of them ever tells the truth........ever.

I am starting to think the Democrats smell blood and feel that letting uberconservatives take her down will be more effective and easier than them taking her down.

It is possible that they are fuel on the fire because they have nothing else. She is unknown.

That may be what we are missing...and I think we will know soon.

1. He hasn't vetoed any spending bills, and that has bothered me greatly.

2. One of the issues I have the strongest disagreement with the President on, is border security. While positive steps have been taken.......eclectronic security for one.........not nearly enough has been done to protect us from invaders across our borders.

3. I pay the least attention to gun issues, though my husband is a member of the NRA so he would know, but he has done nothing to take away a single gun right in this country, nor will he.

4. He has taken the UN to task far more than any other President in history, and he has sent a bulldog, John Bolton, to start to clean it up. No rational conservative can be upset that he has ignored the corruption in the UN.

5. This question is stupid. No answer could dignify it.

Thanks for asking TheMom. I answer legitimate questions from legitimate freepers gladly, and without reservation.

No, of course she isn't corrupt. But she is a crony. In a universe where J. Michael Luttig remains on the Fourth Circuit, I remain deeply disappointed.

When Dick Cheney has to be trotted out to the Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity shows to peddle the laughable notions that Harriet Miers is another Scalia, you know that the WH realizes that they've angered the Base.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Let's review the facts of this situation, OK?

You made a vile reference to President Bush, comparing him unfavorably to your female dog, and I called you on it, saying that you were sitting anonymously behind your keyboard saying that he lacked courage (I didn't mention that he is leading the country and the world while you are sitting at your keyboard, but that is true).

You then grasped on to the 'anonymous' part, and started giving me your first name as though that somehow meant something (since you still are only sitting at your keyboard while he is courageously leading the country).

You said I was playing with BarbiE dolls, then you called me Barbi and Bambi, and then went on to the oh-so-clever 'bushbot' line, and started maligning my state (really stupid, btw).

You asked me 5 questions, but you had behaved like a pre-adolescent jerk, and I determined that you were not worth discussing anything with (a wise and accurate assessment, I might add).

Then you started to badger me.....to stalk me......to break FR rules by pinging me to at least 20 irrelevant posts just to insult me. And I ignored you.

Then, after I was gone, you got so foul that your post got deleted.........and now, like the coward you are, you blame your own childishness on me.

You have shown your true colors here, Tommy. You behave like a child......just as I said from the beginning.

btw, all anyone has to do is scroll upthread to see that I am telling the truth.

Don't ever ping me again.

Right on, OWF.

I traced the exchanges between you and Eaker and Eaker's posts after you left.

Eaker was one nasty poster yesterday. Don't know if that's par for the course for him.

I'm sorry I didn;t catch it earlier. I would have backed you, OWF.

I have to go out for the morning.

I don't even know this person, onyx. But I hope I never 'see' him again.

He has 'issues' that go far deeper than his disdain for President Bush. I hope he gets help.

You are a joker, right? Harriet Miers is no MollyI. Unbelievable the snippy remarks on here today.

I too stand amazed. I have always thought MOST FReepers thought for themselves but many seems to be drinking the pundits' kool-aid and letting them speak for them. You just have to know that Karl Rove had some imput in this decision and Karl Rove is someone that many here believe sits at the right hand side of God Almighty.

It has also been pointed out that she contributed to the 'old' algor........a conservative, pro-life dem........and not the 'new' algor, a rabid, pro-abortion, environmental wacko serial liar.

Scene: Red State Stadium, Red State Benjis versus Blue State Pit Bulls, top of the ninth, score 5-2 for the Pit Bulls, bases loaded, two outs. Benjis manager Dubya Bush is fretting over a pinch hitter. He's got Mighty Mike Luttig (.900), Mauler McConnell (.912), and Sluggin' Rogers-Brown (.995) taking practice swings. He casts a wistful glance in their direction and his lips begin to form a command, when Pit Bulls manager Dingy Harry Reid unleashes a flood of foul invective in Bush's direction.

Dingy: "$%#@%*^&! Don't you even dare look at those chumps, chump! You pick one of them and I swear by the ghost of Abner Doubleday I will command the boo birds to boo and the elements to unleash a Hurricane of abuse on you the likes mankind has not seen since Katrina had her way with New Orleans!"

Dubya: "I'll, I'll . . . I'll put who I WANNA up to bat."

Dingy: "Man, you're dense. You ain't gonna put nobody up that I ain't personally approved. If I have to do it, I got the votes to force this thing into a delay until storms make it impossible to continue."

Dubya: "But Frist . . . ."

Dingy (contemptuously): "Frist, the limp wrist? You gotta be kidding. Remember what happened last time you appealed to him? You really want to see him get humiliated again? But I can give you some more of that--a LOT more--if you really want."

Dubya: "I . . . I . . . don't think you are tough as you say you are."

Dingy: "Try me, cowboy." (spits a wad of tobacco onto Bush's shirt)

Dubya (plaintively): "Will you at least let me put SOMEONE up to bat?"

Dingy: "One person."

Dubya: "Who, sir?"

Dingy: "Your batboy, Harriet."

Dubya: "Harriet? I hadn't even thought of her. But you know, she's wiry and tough, even if she is blind in the right eye. And I don't know that anyone else on the team has spent more time holding a bat."

Dingy: "Put her up to bat, slick. I'll even allow her to swing."

Dubya summons Harriet, who squeals with nervousness and delight, and takes her place at the plate.

Scene: High in the stadium are perched three indefatigable Dubya fans.

1st Fan: "He's putting in the batboy Harriet to pinch hit."

2nd Fan: "We just have to trust him. He knows Harriet's true abilities better than any of us."

3rd Fan: "I don't know . . ."

2nd Fan: "Quick! Give me the emergency photo! She's starting to doubt!"

1st Fan hands 2nd Fan a photo of Dubya in a flight suit, who thrusts it in front of 3rd Fan.

3rd Fan: *Squeal* "What a brilliant man, what a leader!"

Anyway, she donated to the DNC and ALGORE for President in the past.........

She donated to Al Gore in a primary.

I would donate to Al Sharpton in a primary. In an open primary, I would vote for Al Sharpton.

1996 is 9 years ago.
9 years ago the Republican party was nominating Doles.
Dobson is establishment now.
He is one of the bedrocks of the socially conservative right.
What Falwell was, Dobson now is.

There are many brilliant legal minds who matriculated at non-Ivy League institutions, and there is something to be said for choosing a person who hasn't spent over four years being indoctrinated by the faculty of Harvard Law School.

I agree. Otherwise, we might as well appoint and elect according to IQ tests and educational achievements. Then we'd end up with more Jimmy Carters and Bill Clintons.

Go look at your first post to me.

That is what started the ball rolling in the direction that it went.

Forget my name as this is over. You are set on ignore.

Pathetic.

Did you bother to watch POTUS'S press conference?

Hope so, you might have learned something.

I trust POTUS and his judgement.

Miers is solid. The handwringers are not.
