Suggest the Republican now go to Harry Reid and gang for campaign donations. When Schumer and Reid are behind this nominee we have big trouble.

The real test-what are they saying over at DU about her? That's no test at all. First of all there's not one clear thinker in that entire Rat bin, and secondly they'd criticize any Bush nominee.

Judge Judy would have been a better pick

Ann Coulter - yeah, that's the ticket. What in the heck is in you coffee today. I love Ann, but sure wouldn't vote for her for one of the Supremes if you paid me.

Orrin Hatch on Fox News confirmed that Harry Reid suggested her to the President. I voted for Bush so that Harry Reid could nominate the SCOTUS? And there are people who say voting for third parties is a wasted vote.

Looks like Miers was picked to avoid a fight with the Dems.If that's the case, then Dubya has no balls.
What he SHOULD have done was let it be known quietly that he had not just one solidly conservative candidate, but an entire batting order: Janice Rogers-Brown is the nominee...Reject JRB and you get Luttig, reject JRB AND Luttig and you get Edith Jones, reject those three in succession and you get Edith Clement, etc....
Making googly eyes at Harry Reid is pathetic.

Byrd liked Roberts.
Reid likes Meir.
I am worried.
I am also curious about the fact that Ms Meir is 60 years of age. I thought that the administration had decided that their Supreme Court appointees would be around 50. Something don't smell right. Kinda fishy smell. Red Herring?

What does Orin Hatch think of her? I'd put more confidence in his opinion than that of a Dem seeking a graceful exit from a tricky problem.

I see that Newsmax doesn't even the guts to put a "by line" in anymore.
Just promote pure speculation ala the NYT/wash post.

The ever enthusiastic Hatch said good things but his demeanor was less than enthusiastic. He understands the conservatives in the party have been kicked in the gut and that will have consequences.

Myself to GWB:
Congratulations. You effectively lost any bit of credibility you had on anything.
1. You wasted your "political capital" when you decided to push shamnesty in January 2005.
2. You left the fight over vouchers and SS reform with your tail between your legs.
3. Spending like this and refusing to veto anything has LBJ and FDR smiling in their graves.
4. You are about to undue 10 years of electoral gains.
Great Job!

"Orrin Hatch on Fox News confirmed that Harry Reid suggested her to the President."
Orrin Hatch is the one who told Bill Klinton that Ruth Badger Ginzburg (ACLU extremist wacko) was an acceptable choice.

If the normal Leftist rabble-rousers stand down on this nominee, you'll know we've been Soutered.

"Most recently, Harriet Miers served as Assistant to the President and Staff Secretary. Prior to that, she was Co-Managing Partner at Locke Liddell & Sapp, LLP. Previously, she was President of Locke, Purnell, Rain & Harrell, where she worked from 1972 until 1999. From 1995 until 2000, she was chair of the Texas Lottery Commission. In 1992, Harriet became the first woman president of the Texas State Bar, and in 1985 she became the first woman president of the Dallas Bar Association. She also served as a Member-At-Large on the Dallas City Council. Harriet received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Southern Methodist University."
If she has had any affiliations with the ACLU or any other subversive organizations - dig it out now!

So you know more about Miers than President Bush does?
That is precisely the point. He had an opportunity to select a known conservative - but instead of nominating someone like HE SAID HE WOULD in the vein of Scalia or Thomas, he chose to slap his supports and say, "I know better - no matter what I said before."
As for him being done with me. Well, I am only one so I suppose no one cares about my vote - but there are a lot of conservatives who feel like this President just flipped them off and we will not be flocking to the polls in 2006 or 2008.
Hope you like the sound of "Clinton 43".
George ("Read My Lips") Bush gave us "Clinton 41". George ("I'll Nominate Someone Like Scalia") Bush just gave us "Clinton 43".
