Another thing, most people here don't know what it was like in Texas years ago. I've lived in Texas for over 30 years. In the 80s, Texas was still ruled by the democrats, and it would still be that way if not for the conservative movement started by Reagan, and Miers was a conservative democrat when she was a democrat, so was Governor Perry, and so was President Reagan, and so were a LOT of other Republicans today who were conservative democrats back in the day. Back when Miers was a democrat that's basically all there was in Texas. There were conservative democratsm, who are today conservative Republicans because the party left them, and there were democrats who are today liberal democrats. That's reality. Miers was a conservative democrat who is now a conservative Republican who has been with Bush for over a decade, was instrumental in picking Luddig, and Pryor, and Owens, and other good conservative judges.

People need to look at their big reason for being scared about this. They're scared about this because of kennedy and souter. Well kennedy was picked because known hard conservative Sonunu was defeated. souter was picked because hard conservative Bork was defeated. That's 0-2. If Luddig, Pryor and Owens are good enough, then the woman who was pivotal in picking them, and who didn't think Roberts was conservative enough should be good enough. It's that simple.

Then I guess all the known conservatives that have come out supporting her are really stupid, and guys like you are the real geniusus who for some reason, aren't running the party. Why is that? Can you explain that to me? God I'm sick of people, liberal and conservative, who are such great Monday morning Quarterbacks, from a position of being totally out of the loop and having nothing to lose if they're wrong, and nothing to gain if they're right. All the con is supposition, and decades old opinions. All the pro is things she's actually said and done the past decade+, and many proven conservatives who are supporting her. The Pro outweighs the Con. But most of all, I'm fed up with conservatives who are willing to crucify someone when the facts are still not known about her! That's the kind of stupid irrationality I expect from liberals. And it makes me ashamed to be a conservative. How about she be proven to be a liberal before she's crucified as one? Jay Sekulo right now is on the radio defending her as a constructionist conservative, and a Christian. I guess He just isn't as smart as all the torch bearing FReepers out in droves today either huh? Whatever!

This is very frustrating. I am quite disappointed at the people who are so quick to jump on this and attack Bush and other conservatives. I mean, the Judges that the complainers which Bush had picked, have their poitions they have now in large part because of Miers input. WHY is that so hard for so many here to process??? The woman thought Roberts was not conservative enough in the selection process she was pivotal in a couple months ago. Does that not say something??? I've really had my fill of this crap. I don't like Bush's policy on border control. I don't like all the nice nice crap with liberals and not fighting a good fight. But all I've seen today makes it irrational to oppose Miers based on what is known as FACT right now. And it's really getting old. When a few votes have been taken and Miers and Roberts have voted with Thomas and Scalia, as I believe they will, I will definitely bring up all this crap today. I wonder how many freepers with torches held high will admit they jumped the gun and were really overboard on their concerns.

Like you I am going to be watching to see which torch-bearers have the courage to admit they overreacted. It is disappointing to see some of our icons clearly unable to think outside their own boxes.

Here is President Bush with Miers at his ranch. I think he knew a while ago that he would be submitting her name.
