She used to be a Democrat, contributed to Clinton and Gore. I'm not happy with this choice either.

Understatement, I am pissed. This wishy, washy stealth b.s. has to stop. Blind trust for something we do not know about, why walk past all those great conservative judges? Does'nt make sense.

I am a loyal Bush fan, and I say kick the plug on this abomination of a nomination.

'The nomination of Harriet Miers has not rid us of the repugnant situation that a jurist with a clear and distinguished record will not be nominated for higher service. This nomination did not rid us of the apprehension of stealth nominees.' That is certainly one of my biggest concerns. For almost 20 years, no Conservative with a track record has been a safe nominee, no matter how accomplished and honorable they are. It was time to have that fight. Bush flinched.

This isn't what I helped campaign for, as a volunteer; and it's not what I supported, with numerous (and substantial) cash donations.

Some conservatives are pathologically incapable of being thrilled, to be fair.

Harriet Miers may eventually turn out to be the second coming of Scalia. Still this appointment is disappointing for one reason. The Dems and their media allies use the term "conservative" as a synonym for "outre" or "scary". An appointment of a known strict constructionist, even if confirmed in a bruising battle, would put an end to this nonsense. We are in charge. Let's act like it.

Some Conservatives Not Thrilled by Miers Uh-oh... it's one of them quagMiers!

A known quantity to Bush. An unknown quantity to the conservative base. We either trust Bush on this or we don't. I don't.
To: gopwinsin04
This administration will be making another huge mistake if it underestimates the conservative anger over this nominee.
To: gopwinsin04
Any conservative with ounce of intelligence should have a problem with the nomination of a woman that has no track record and contributed to the Presidential campaign of Algore.
It's not acceptable. This nomination needs withdrawn and a known originalist needs to be nominated in her place.

How do you spell Miers?
