WASHINGTON President Bush will hold a press conference on Tuesday in the Rose Garden at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
The issue that most likely will dominate the event is Bush's Monday pick of White House counsel Harriet Miers (search) for Supreme Court justice. If confirmed, Miers would take the place of retiring Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (search).

I frankly haven't found his analysis to be all that correct many times, so I take his put downs of the President and his decisions with more than a grain of salt.
[sniff sniff] is that a bushbot I smell?
Yes, "Trust me", that's what so many of us pounded the pavement for, shelled out hard earned cash for, and donated our time and energy for. "Trust me".
Heck, why not, worked out great with his judgement with Mel Martinez, Rafael Palmiero, Colin Powell, Paul O'Neil, Michael Brown, and my personal fave, Arlen Specter. Yes, W's shown great judgement with people, why not "Trust him"?
Owl_Eagle(If what I just wrote makes you sad or angry,
He sounds terrible.
Wants the PAtriot Act extended to protect the homeland yet doesn't want to enforce existing border/immigration laws. WTF??
Interesting idea from the Senate: reach outside and pick someone who hasn't been a judge, outside the "judicial monastery". She'll bring a "fesh approach" and be a "really good judge."
Says you. I say not all wisdom rests in you.
HAHA, I loved how bush said "She'll bee a really good judge".
I love George, but he's lost it. The most qualified?
2nd question.... did you shy away from a battle with dims...
Definitely a bit of damage control going on, and look at the press, taking the bait! Their questions aren't about the hurricane, or the war, or anything else.
This is the President I have stood behind for years. I will not leave him now or ever. And to those stupid comments about standing in the street naked. They speak for themselves. Can't remember who said it on here but some one with an ax to grind. President Bush is a man of compassion, those who don't like him have their right. As for me and my house, we continue to support President Bush.
This is not the President's finest news conference.
He is? LOL!
Damn that Karl Rove is good......
LOL! I've been answering all the questions on this thread.
Sorry I don't beleive mccain supporter krystal(a fact) as the wrod of God as you do.
she's a pioneer when it comes to the law
What the hell does that mean?
The President didn't flinch. Said "she won't change her views". I think he is 100% confident how Ms Miers will interpret the Constitution.
No cronyism. Just told you why she was picked.
No comment yet on the lack of cajones for a fight.
Tone will be set by those running the hearing.
He's giving the right answer. He and we want someone who's not going to do a flip-flop.
I'm on board. I wanted the fight, I wanted Janice Rogers Brown, but he's making the most sure choice he can with someone he trusts.
You watch...the Dims are going to start screaming about Miers. Dingy Harry may start back tracking. Are we going to pile on?
This board is starting to look like DU.
Misunderestimated? I think maybe so.
He's finding out that in politics .... standing in the middle just means you don't have a lot of friends...
There are plenty of liberal "most qualifieds" but will they be a consistent conservative vote , a strict constructionalist and originalist, of course not.
