The "divide" question: Bush is hitting it out of the park.

Ownership

Education---soft bigotry

Faith based programs

It belongs to us.

He says the republican party should never take a vote for granted... and neither should the democrats. Said he was dissapointed by the vote he got from the black community.

I have put forth a theory, in another thread, that this nomination has Rove's fingerprints on it.

The two ways to toughen the spines of GOP Senators are to flood their offices with phone calls/e-mails and to make them pay for their behavior at the ballot box.

Perhaps this is part of Rove's strategy for long-term Republican hegemony.

Bush won in 2004 because the base got energized and turned out in record numbers.

Could this be part of re-energizing the base...causing them to put forth candidates that are actually to the "right" of Bush and will "get the job done"??

If the base DOES get energized ala-2004 not only could they put better people in office, but it would be a STRONGER GOP caucus.

Just a thought. The anger of my fellow Freepers make me wonder if this might just be coorect.

If that is all true...then I'll expect George Allen to get more positive press time in the near future, get the pubbie nomination in '08...and romp whoever the Dems will put against him. I'd LOVE to see that. That would make a "believer" out of me.

Can you tell me that Harriet is the most qualified person out there?

Nobody can. I wish people would just settle down. No one knows how she is going to vote. Some people just arent happy unless they are b*tching about something. The turn this board has taken in the last 24 hours is just pathetic..

"There is absolutly no way a liberal Democrat will want to allow a "strict constructionist" on the court."

When they look at her record and see that she supports women in combat, don't ask don't tell, contributed to Dukakis & Gore; supports an international criminal court, and supports gay adoption the Dems won't be able to control their glee. Strict constructionist my ass. Who does he think he's fooling?

I am wary of anyone whose nomination comes with a Ouija board, dice, and a free phone call to Psychic Hotline. Why must we find solace in reading chicken innards to discern our judicial future? Uncertainty is NO way to garner faith and support.

'You sound like you came to the wrong website. Arn't you suppose to be over at DU or moveon?"

No I'm just not a sheep. If you can't tell he sounds like crap today you must not be watching the same program I am. Just because I am not worshiping him doesn't mean I am a DU'r, and I resent that implication. I can think for myself, thank you.

Oh, I do not know. I just read an article about Miers where she was called "an extreme anti-choice lawyer".
They said she was pro-choice until she became born again and lost all perspective about choice.
"Extreme anti-choice", sounds good to me.

IT'S a CONSPIRACY!

Teddy Kennedy planted Miers in Texas 15 years ago. She is actually a Commie agent! She's been fooling W for 10 years!

That's what this board needs...a good ol' conspiracy to bring out the tinfoil hats.

Where did you score the crack you smoked this morning. Lincoln had his Cooper Union speech. Reagan was Governor of California. Newt had been in Congressional leadership for years. All of these folks were far better known than Harriet. How do you know that she is the MOST qualified nominee?
