Ann Coulter just took apart SCOTUS nominee on the Mike Rosen show (My report)
Ann Coulter's appearance on the Mike Rosen show, 850am KOA ^ | This morning, Mon. Oct. 4th | Report from Mike Rosen show

Posted on 10/04/2005 10:39:32 AM PDT by ajolympian2004

Ann Coulter just took apart President Bush's SCOTUS nominee on the air during her appearance on the Mike Rosen show here in Denver on 850am KOA. She called for listeners to write their senators to oppose the nomination. Wish you could have heard it!

Ann said - "Totally unqualified", called Judge Roberts "a 'dream' candidate in light of this nomination", mentioned "cronyism" over and over. Much more that I'm trying to digest. I called the station to see if they saved the audio, but no luck on that. Mike Rosen was just about speechless as Ann went on and on about why this was a lousy choice.

I agree with Ann. Huge mistake and missed opportunity.

Ann's choice, Janice Rodgers-Brown. Not enough intestinal fortitude in the White House to go with that choice.

Can't wait for Ann's column on this nomination later this week.

When did I ever claim to be an "expert" on this issue?

but when have I ever insulted another member of this website, or any other member merely because we disagreed on a given subject?

Never. You have always made polite and interesting posts, as far as I remember. You also always reply, which is a major plus in my book. :)

Everyone brings different perspectives and experience to the debate--it's a shame that every major incident/event in the news seems to lead to viciousness.

I was very disappointed yesterday a.m., today I'm willing to take a second look.

We'll see how she does in the hearings. They should be highly anticipated--I don't think the news organizations will get away with cutting away from live coverage every ten minutes.

At least I hope not.

A "Junior" fan? You mean President Bush? Yes, I am. I worked very, very hard for months to get him elected, both times...

He's not really George Bush Junior, by the way. His Dad is George Herbert Walker Bush, while he is simply George Walker Bush.

Close, but not enough to call him "Junior"!

And yes, I'm a Bush fan, but he is flawed in that he doesn't seem to want to fight domestically.

If Kennedy, Schumer, Clinton, et all were Sunni insurgents, he'd fight them tooth and nail, throw Scalito grenades at them and send in A-10 Luttighogs, and we would be victorious.

But alas, he always seems to cave on domestic affairs...

And no, I don't know her personally, but if she were truly one of America's stellar Constitutional Jurists, as the situation demands, we would have heard of her in a different context, like a Bork or McConnell, not just as President Bush's pit bull in size 6's.

And yes, I'd love to chat after the hearings. If she shows brilliant understanding of Constitutional affairs and how to return us to following the Constitution, then I will eat my hat.

See ya',

Ed

Congress did not vote a formal declaration of war against the terrorists as specified in the Constitution

Right.

IRAQ WAR RESOLUTION 107th CONGRESS 2d Session H. J. RES. 114 October 10, 2002 JOINT RESOLUTION To authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against Iraq.

Address to a Joint Session of Congress and the American People - September 20, 2001

Do some fact checking before you make yourself look silly.

she is an evangelical christian, the religious right is going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Libertarians will not.

Her point was that there are millions of good, Pentecostal Christians who would have been preferable to Ms. Miers.

The argument is still vacuous.

Very few conservatives had long knives out for Thomas and most, like myself, strongly supported him.

I'm not criticizing those who supported him.

Apparently FNC reported early today that Harry's staff is not happy with him about recommending her

I heard that too. I knew that was going to happen. Wait and watch him backtrack and shift his posture.

No it isn't.

If the primary argument in favor of her confirmation is that she is a Christian, and then evidence comes forward that there are other Christians whose qualifications exceed-in every discernible way-hers, then there is no basis for her confirmation, is there?

Ann's rant about murdering most of the muslims and converting the rest to Christianity was the last time I could respect anything she has to say on any topic.

Someone so lacking in common sense is not worthy of my consideration.

That is how I am approaching it. I give President Bush the benefit of the doubt. Here he has a problem with RINOs and the brutal beating he has suffered from the press over Katrina. The democrats have everything to gain by stalling the nomination for any reason they can find and the longer Justice O'Connor sits on the bench, the more we have to lose. I think he has some strategy in mind.

I don't care if she's a Druid, but for me personally, I'm glad she's a devout Evangelical Christian. My thoughts are, if she will interpret the Constitution and laws of the land as written as she has stated, then there shouldn't be any problem. Ann Coulter lately has been framing herself and her arguments in delusion and vacuous statements.

Ann sounds like one of those liberal, elitist snobs she is always disparaging.

You should have heard her on Hannity today. Very condescending attitude.

Well if by "libertarian conservative" the poster meant one that is in favor of limited government; I didn't know that such a creature existed anymore.

That's right. He's not afraid of an all-out fight with the Senate democrats in order to get an arch-conservative judge on the Supreme Court. Sure, he didn't do it with his last pick; and, no, he didn't do it with his current pick. But for his next pick, watch out Dems!!! George will be looking to kick some Liberal a$$! Trust me.

Oooh. I like that sarcasm. That's just what many here are saying. When are they going to remove the Dubya BlindersTM from their eyes and see this horse ain't winnin' anything for us? The Dim donkey is leading the pack, fuhevinsakes.

i don't presume to speak for Appypappy, who, if i am not mistaken, was the one that made the original comment, but my take is that those who know what an evangelical christian worldview means are more likely to give this woman the benefit of the doubt. others, for whom religion is not a concern, are more likely to be opposed to it. and those who are bushbashers are going to hate whomever he picks.

I truly believe Brown and Owens and Jones would have been filibustered.

And the nuclear option might have failed, seriously weakening conservative strength. I wonder if Bush knew something about the vote count.

And then there are the CharlieBrown conservatives. They believe "Just a few more Senators, just a few more elections, we swear.....and then we won't pull the football away".
