Luv, I expected to wake up to cold, rain.. that was the forecast a few days ago & was so covered up yesterday never checked weather online (which is my weather as I don't do TV). It is gorgous here. Need to mow BIGTIME here & do some clean up.In my driveway I have much "stuff" strewn that was from basement floods & drying out to see if salvageable.. One thing or another keeps taking priority for me to clean it up. Sanford & Son is NOT appreciated where I live!

It's nice and cool here--48* woohoo! It rained more than an inch last night. I'll probably have to wear a JACKET to work. It feels good for a change!

you are most welcome Gretchen. You are one neat lady & it was fun to share your story.. and as I didn't have to do ALL the HTML, it was a double treat. If you have not seen Lady X (maggies) style of writing on Finest, it is much like yours. She normally posts a fun follow up on thursday for JohnHuang2's essay.

check your FReepmail a little later..

Thanks for the heads up -- I'll check into that.

One of my friends here in K.C., MO, went to school at Gulf Park College in Gulfport, MS. Here is what my friend wrote:

"Our school is badly damaged, but will be rebuilt. The homes from Waveland, Ms to Pascagoula, Ms were destroyed to a pile of rubble for a mile inland from the shore. I am hoping you will go to the website to see a picture of what it looks like for over 60 miles of homes on the MS coast. This account is from a Gulf Park classmate/friend---!!! This home is inland in Gulfport. We only see and hear a very small part of what is going on down there. It helps to have 1st hand info. Another classmate who lives in Sedona, AZ is involved in Beyond the Storm. BTStorm, is a hands on group of Christian people with compassion and determination..."

This is what her friend said:

"From: kcrdesign Date: Tue, 20 Sep 2005 13:22:25 EDT Subject: Re: [shaw-bairdclan] Back to the Disaster Area -- Gulfport, MS To:

I got back from Gulfport Sunday night after being down there for 5 days trying to help my partner and friend [they are in business together] Debbie Gxxxxxx. The description you just sent is exactly what it was like. The only difference is that Debbies home had been under 7 ft of water filled with sewage etc. She has pneumonia and keeps trying to go over there to sort but because of the mold cannot stay but a few minutes at a time. Imagine all of the treasures you collect over a lifetime completely ruined, all your childrens pictures, your parents bible, the first present your husband (who is now dead) gave you....all gone.

I helped pull out walls, insulation, tried to open drawers to see if anything in them was salvageable. Trying to determine if any of the furniture could be repaired, taking pictures... documenting...watching her cry when because even though she had hurricane insurance, because she didn't have flood insurance, she is only being offered 10,300.00 for her entire house with FEMA offering $5000.00. Keep in mind she still has a 130,000.00 mortgage which she will still have to pay, and but for a friend that is letting her live in a house he owns, she would have nowhere to go. I can go on and on with the dismal side...... but the humanity, the caring, the determination of the people in that area amazed me. She and I had gone to Wal mart to re-stock some of the basics that she had nothing left of, and 3 women in the line in front of her paid for what she had gotten without telling her until we got to checkout....They had already left....People that had 2 bottles of water and nothing else to their name, would offer you one of the bottles. Her entire neighborhood was in the same shape, living in tents and trailers. They were putting up Christmas lights, laughing, helping one another. The human spirit is amazing. The whole experience has really humbled me. Kathy

It is another world down there that really cannot be explained until you are there to see for yourself."

Yes they are. If we let Him, God will use this to teach us something.
