Fieger to run for attorney general

SOUTHFIELD - He's baaack. After several years of maintaining a relatively low profile, wellknown legal eagle Geoffrey Fieger announced Tuesday his intention to run for state attorney general in 2006 on the Democratic ticket.

Never one to mince words, Fieger used a news conference at his Southfield office to accuse incumbent Attorney General Mike Cox and Republicans in general of bankrupting the state and kowtowing to corporate interests. He singled out Cox, accusing the fi rst-term prosecutor of not doing enough to advance consumer protections and of giving jobs to campaign contributors.

"At a time when Michigan needs an Eliot Spitzer to root out corruption and greed at the highest corporate levels, instead we have a Ken Lay and Enron attorney general," Fieger said, referring to the New York Attorney General Spitzer.

Fieger is a bigot who hates Christians (especially Catholics) and Orthodox Jews. This is a Christmas gift to the GOP. John Engler kicked the crap out of him in 1998.

Yep, ole Eliot has been the greatest thing for the economy since the invention of the wheel. I can't wait for the dems in my area to celebrate this announcement. It gives me great pleasure to say, "you like dem policies, then you should like the state of Michigan's economy." If we want double digit unemployment then cast a vote for Feiger...

Hey! I voted for Fieger in the '98 Primary! At that time Michigan had an open primary and lots of us Republicans, secure in the knowledge that Engler had the Republican nomination sewen up, crossed over to vote for this clown! How else do you think he got the nomination?

After that the DemocRATS changed their primary rules and went to a party caucus rather than an open vote.

My mom worked in the Oakland Cty. Prosecutors office, and this guy (and his client Dr. Jack) was the biggest thorn in their sides for years. She later went to work for Engler and made it her mission to make sure Fieger never held public office. Sadly, she is no longer around to see this spectacle.
