Sen. John Kerry, losing Democratic U.S. presidential candidate in 2004 and a possible contender in 2008, took on Republican California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday by lobbying against his initiative to curb the power of the state's labor unions.

"This represents part of an ongoing effort by the Republican Party to create an unfair playing field, to change the balance of democracy in America," Kerry said.

"They are willing to try to take away the democratic rights of working Americans," said the Massachusetts senator, who was speaking to reporters at a fire station with Democratic Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Well, let's see who are the people who are fighting against Arnold's propositions: the Democrats, the unions, Villaraigosa, Angelides and now Kerry.

What a bunch. Does anyone in their right mind really wants to be in their company, on the same political side?

They are willing to try to take away the democratic rights of working Americans..

I still don't understand the twisted logic that says making union members vote on how their money is spent is "taking away" their democratic rights?

All the terminator is trying to do is prevent the unions from making political contributions (all to dems) with union dues that workders are, essentially, forced to pay via the fair share provision.

Kerry is such an ass....the real lurch would be better...when does Kerry go away?

Are even demented Democrats crazed enough to nominate this guy twice?

Union members aren't dumb. They are sick of the PC dimwits just like everyone else.

Neat post!

Kerry does not represent the voters of California. He has no business sticking his nose in things.

Maybe he and TeRAYsa are eyeing some beachfront property in Malibu, and he decided he'd mix business with his wife's money. It's not like he served in Vietnam or anything...

"Prop. 75 ballot initiative, which would require unions to get approval from members before using dues for political causes."

And, this is a problem because......???

There goes Kerry again....on the wrong side of an issue....sheesh.

Why should he go away? Life is good. Union butt-kissing presidential candidates have done so well in the history of the Democrat party.

"to change the balance of democracy in America," Kerry said."

Yeah, the balance he doesn't like on on election day he didn't have enough votes to be elected.

"Balance of democracy"? It's called the *will of the people*.

The 'rat pols look at the inions as beiong their own piggy bank, and can't stand the idea that the members be anything other than strong-armed by the union thugs.
