Friday October 14, 2005--Forty-seven percent (47%) of American adults approve of the way George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That matches the lowest level ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports.
Fifty-one percent (51%) Disapprove.
For the first time in a week, more than 8-out-of-10 Republicans give the President their Approval. His rating among the GOP faithful bumped up to 83% on Friday. Still, while an improvement over the past week, this support is lower than the President has enjoyed from his own party during most of his time in office.
Twenty percent (20%) of Democrats, and 35% of those not affiliated with either major political party also give the President their Approval.
Despite vocal opposition from many conservative activists, most Republicans believe Harriet Miers should be confirmed and serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. Overall, 65% believe she will be confirmed.
In New Jersey, the race for Governor is getting a bit closer. Senator Jon Corzine's lead has slipped to single digits over Republican Doug Forrester. The race to be Virginia's next Governor is tied with Republican Jerry Kilgore and Democrat Tim Kaine both earning 45% of the vote.
During 2004, reports on the President Job Approval were based upon surveys of Likely Voters. Typically, a survey of Likely Voters would report a Job Approval rating 2-3 points higher than a survey of all adults.
On Election Day, the President's Job Approval was at 52%. During all of 2004, the President's Job Approval ranged from a high of 57% in early January to a low of 43% on August 17.
The President's highest rating of 2005 was 54% on February 4.
Occasionally, due to the rounding process, the totals for "Strongly" and "Somewhat" Approve or Disapprove presented in the left column do not match the totals presented in the right column.
Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
Rasmussen Reports was the nation's most accurate polling firm during the 2004 Presidential election and the only one to project both Bush and Kerry's vote total within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.
During Election 2004, RasmussenReports.com was also the top-ranked public opinion research site on the web. We had twice as many visitors as our nearest competitor and nearly as many as all competitors combined.
Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, has been an independent pollster for more than a decade.
I'm sure this will be the lead story on the CBS/NBC/ABC evening news.
Rush had the approval ratings of the last (I think it was) 8 presidents at their low point, and they were all way lower than Dubya.
It happens.
Am I blind or am I missing the demographics of the respondents on Rasmussen's site?
The approval ratings of any president are inversely proportional to the price of gasoline........
ONLY 80%?..............20% RINOS.....
How can this be? I've been hearing for weeks now that he was at 40%! Could the MSM be telling us something that is NOT the truth? I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you!
I calculate it roughly 39% R, 41% D, and 20% other. That is one combination that comes out to 47%
IIRC, Reagan's approval ratings were lower than Bush's are during several points in his second term -- look at how he is remembered!
The solution to high prices is high prices.
Looks like they forgot to update their daily release.
Monday's number matched Rasmussen's lowest reading.
Rasmussen doesn't cook their books as much as the other pollsters, so theirs have generally been higher.
I don't know whether this signifies anything or not. Bush should be bouncing back from the media's Katrina onslaught. Possibly Miers is having an effect, but that's hard to say. I suspect that most of the people who deplore the Miers nomination still would like to support Bush, and are unlikely to turn irretrievably against him before it proves to be a done deal.
This poll was registered voters......
>I calculate it roughly 39% R, 41% D, and 20% other. That is one combination that comes out to 47%
I'm missing something.....like knowledge........
how do you calculate that?
Is there no end to this incessant polling.
Sick of the MSM making NEWS everyday with worthless results about worthless questions.
