ENERGY CRISIS (Grocer Pulls Energy Drink of Michael Savage's Son- "Rockstar")
New York Times ^ | October 15, 2005

Posted on 10/15/2005 6:48:06 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The owner of a Portland, Ore., grocery chain has removed Rockstar energy drinks from the shelves. The founder of Rockstar, Russell Goldencloud Weiner, is the son of Michael Savage, the perpetually enraged talk radio host.

Brian Rohter, owner of New Seasons Market, told The Portland Oregonian that Mr. Savage did "his best to take apart the fabric of our society and to attack American values."

In 2003, MSNBC fired Mr. Savage after he told a caller he assumed was gay to "get AIDS and die." He continues to employ a similar tone on his syndicated radio show.

On www.rockstar69.com, Mr. Weiner talks about his father's experience as an "herbalist" and claims his caffeine-loaded beverage is "the perfect balance of vitamins and herbs." Major ingredients are high-fructose corn syrup and glucose.

It is good to know I am not the only that thinks he is a jerk

Yes, I think Michael " whiner about everything" Savage is a jerk too.

About every 3 months I tune to his show just to see how long I last before I turn him off. It's usually about 3 minutes or less anymore.

I'm confused here, it is the son's company or does he just run it for his father?

I can't usually take more than 5 minutes of Savage and that lasts me for months.

Well, I have to agree with you; New Seasons is political.

In 2003, MSNBC fired Mr. Savage after he told a caller he assumed was gay to "get AIDS and die."

As I recall the incident, Savage asked the caller if he was a sodomite. The caller said "yes".

There was no assumption about anything.

I can only take Savage for 10 or 15 minutes -- I think he has become even more vitriolic over time.

"And Savage has the audacity to bitch about dopers and hippy era left overs."

I'm think ole' Savage may have smoked a few in his younger days.

Savage can say anything he wants on the air as long as his employer does not have a problem with what he says. If they do they can fire him.

New Seasons market can pull a product off their shelves if they like. It's their shelves.

It's a free country. People can be as dumb as they want and it's nice of them to sometimes be both dumb and entertaining at the same time.

I find Savage very entertaining. Why? Because he's not like everyone else on the radio. I like listening to him. The guy that runs the grocery is dumb but not entertaining.

LOL! If Savage is an example of what happens to your personality if you become an "herbalist" I'll stick to my artificial drinks, thank you!!! By the way, I love the description: PERPETUALLY ENRAGED TALKSHOW HOST!!! ROFLMAO!!!!

-- We think our customers see the difference between politics and hate and
will support our choice to exclude Rockstar from our shelves.---

I'm just sure of it, Brian. As long as it's someone the right taking it in the pants, they'll just say good riddance.

I think of Michael Savage as the pro-wrestler of talk radio.

Oregon? Isn't that the state where live sex acts are permitted on stage - or anywhere else in the club? Not only that, Dr. Savage could help him with his assisted suicide when the sales drop way off in the grocery stores...
(I guess they're due for a tsunami or earthquake soon)

As far as I know, at least here in Southern Oregon we don't have live sex acts on stage. In fact it's almost impossible to open a strip club here.

There was a 1/2 hour show the other evening about a new law passed in Oregon that lets "anything go" in a night club. I don't remember the specifics but I'm sure I can Google them up...

I don't mind drinking Rockstart every once in a while. My first choice is Monster Energy drink though :) Really keeps you awake.

I never could understand why one would pay $1.75 for 6 oz of bad tasting drink spiked with a little caffiene.
