Bottomless lakes State Park is located near Roswell, NM and lists the deepest as ninty feet. The Blue Hole at Santa Rosa,NM is the one I was referring to.

It could all be BS, for all I know.

I am suprised that I am suprised to discover that fresh water enters the oceans gulfs and seas from springs at the bottom. We all should have realized that with the dry land being far higher than the ocean floor, that the veins of water that supply our wells and then flow on to the next well, would eventually bubble up, just as surely as the rivers, branches and creeks eventually flow onto the surface of those same bodies of water.

LOL! Now that we know , how the heck are we going to use this knowledge for our benefit?

"These caverns are said to be part of the same system as Carlsbad Caverns, and although the surface of the water is 4,600 feet above sea level, it is reported that the bottom of the caverns are equivalent to 100 feet below sea level."

Interesting. From the sounds of the water coming into the hole for our sump pumps, I think we have a river under our house right now.

Nice story, too bad we can't use it. OTOH, it seems like there was a discussion of the Roman invasion of what is now Scotland, perhaps here:
