Teen threw frozen bird through windshield, crushing woman’s face. A teen who severely injured a woman by tossing a 20-pound turkey through her car windshield was sentenced to six months in jail after his victim requested a light sentence.

Ryan Cushing, 19, also received five years of probation Monday and was ordered to undergo psychiatric treatment and do community service.

Victoria Ruvolo underwent a 10-hour operation to repair her crushed face and spent a month in the hospital following the incident last November. She said she requested a light sentence for Cushing because she wanted to give him a second chance.....

"Five other teenagers had previously pleaded guilty to various charges, including credit card theft for a spending spree that included the turkey."

Sorry. I can appreciate this woman's need to be 'Compassionate' but I suspect Mr. Cushing will perpetrate more senseless crimes in the future. So will his accomplices in this outrage.

A nice defense strategy but it melts fast on cross-examination when the prosecutor asks if the turkey was in fact frozen at the time of impact. :)

WKRP memories bump!

I hope his community service is at a burn ward at some hospital or a rehab facility. Maybe first hand experience with people suffering to overcome a disability/injury from an accident or someone's careless stupidity will help this young man make better choices in his life.

The judge should have totally ignored this victim's request. This guy threw an object that's on par with a concrete block through a windshield and could have killed someone. With a crime like this justice must be done, and what the wishes of the victim are is irrelevant to what the society should demand as punishment. The little bastard should have got 3 - 5 years. No less!

That turkey didn't just smash her face; it must have made mush of her brains!

Thousands of other teenagers saw her compassion and learned only one thing. Not to be compassionate, that would be the case in a perfect world. They learned that if they commit a crime and cry in front of a Christian victim they can most likely either get away with it or get a lighter sentence. By her compassion, she has sentenced others to be victims.

I think you are right. I am so tired of those who believe 'Compassion' is the automatic response to everything - The very PC response at that. Compassion for a real mistake might be in order, rarely, but this type of senseless, mean spirited, wanton infliction of pain on another human being warrants a harsh response IMO.

Feel good compassion will likely result in what you've predicted.

My first thought too was that Thanksgiving episode of WKRP and the turkeys being dropped from the helicopter. Too funny.

She's a sucker. A little thug like that has probably been getting "second chances" since he was 12.

I remember this case. He said he "threw it at the ground" and "never realized it would bounce" - which it did, and went through her windshield and damaged her for life.

I am an old softee, and was thinking well, maybe just a stupid kid until I read a few more facts of the case.

Number one I remember was they spent the evening stealing somebodies credit cards and using them to buy stuff. And how reckless do you have to be to throw a frozen turkey out a window? Those things are like bricks.
