But .. I still say just blowing the jet apart was not what landed on the water. What landed on the water were miniscule pieces of the plane. That one blast from the tank (which they're showing they tested) would not have shattered the plane all to pieces. The fumes blasted out one huge area - and could have possibly broken the plane in two - but that still doesn't explain all the pieces.

I remember seeing the burning pieces all over the water - and my first reaction was - a missle blew it up. That reaction was way before anybody said anything about the cause.

It's really difficult to believe that the entire NTSB, a collection of pretty mild-mannered nerds, and all the NTSB folks on the show tonight are part of a grand conspiratorial coverup or that their families will be killed if they speak out or something.

I realize most on FR really want it to have been a terrorist missle, but I do hope some did watch this so that they were exposed to somthing besides Cashill's rants (I really think there are a lot of people who have those as their source of knowledge about the crash.)

As an experiment, they dumped an entire Hibachi full of red-hot coals into a huge fuel tank full of the same fuel type as on TWA 800, and NOTHING happened --the fuel is specifically engineered to burn, but not DETONATE in the manner that occurred.

That's a true story.

I am not up on this enough to be an expert. But I remember the same thing you do. Small, teeny peices of plane scattered over a wide area.

I am somewhat disappointed. I was hoping new info would be added. But the underwater shots were awesome.

The plane was shot down on the same day as Saddam's big celebration of the birthday of the Iraqi Bath party.

Purely coincidence, right?

Just like the coincidence of 258 witnesses on land, sea and in the air, all seeing the same thing; a light rising up from the sea, zig-zagging towards the plane, followed by an explosion.

Here's a more personal hint: My cousin-in-law, a total 'Toon apologists, swears it was all on the up-and-up because he spoke to some retired FBI assistant investigator who allegedly worked on the investigation and told him it was an "accident".

P.S. If Flight 800 was an "accident", then Lee Harvey Oswald also "accidentally" shot JFK.

Shoe bomb suspect 'did not act alone'

Hair and prints were reportedly found on Reid's shoes

The FBI has discovered forensic evidence that indicates alleged shoe bomber Richard Reid had help making the explosives found in his shoes on board an American-bound flight.

American news reports say hair and palm prints have been found on the shoes, which have been the subject of several tests since Mr Reid's arrest on 22 December.

Mr Reid, a Briton coverted to Islam, allegedly tried to set fire to explosives in his shoes while on an American Airlines flight from Paris bound for Miami. He denies the charges.

Reid allegedly told investigators he had acted alone

He was overpowered by passengers and sedated by an on-board doctor until the flight was diverted to Boston's Logan Airport, where he was arrested.

American news channel CNN says the FBI has concluded that the presence of such samples means Mr Reid was aided in assembling the bomb.

Powerful explosive

Mr Reid is said to have told investigators that he used a recipe from the internet to make a rare explosive known as TATP, or triacetone triperoxide.

He said he bought the ingredients from either a Czech or Slovak man in Amsterdam, one of the many places he travelled through.

He also said that he acted alone.

The TATP would have been used to set alight more powerful explosives called PETN, which experts say would have been powerful enough to blow a hole in the side of the plane and cause it to crash.

According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, the reported discovery of TATP links Mr Reid to two Islamic fundamentalist groups linked to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.

Mr Reid was formally charged last week in a Boston court with attempted murder and attempted destruction of an airliner.

You don't need a grand conspiracy for the official conclusion to be fatuous. Look at Columbia: the engineers at NASA didn't think the foam striking the wing would be a serious problem. They were wrong. Errors happen. Wrong conclusions are reached by well intention, generally competent people.

Had threatened to provide evidence to special prosecutor on White Water exposing a scam to sell land, loan large amounts to Clinton contributors, and allow them to default the loans where the only loser was the govt who provided insurance for defaults. -- Dead.

Seventeen Sailors, crew on the USS Cole that were victims of a policy of ignorance. A policy that put their ship in a dangerous Yemeni harbor and did not allow ammunition in the on-deck guns, did not provide a small-craft to intercept oncoming boats, and pretended the attack was made by a harbor craft despite it was not anything like a harbor craft. -- Dead.

Since ground crews and baggage handlers had access to the tank, I've long suspected thermite or some other incindiary device could have been the culprit.

258 witnesses were discredited - most of whom said they saw a streak of light leave the ground and strike the plane. And most of those people were very credible - pilots - military - people in sciences who understood what they were seeing.

It's one of those things that I just believe, and nothing can change my mind.
