I did exactly the same thing in 1969 for exactly the same reasons. I have never regretted the decision, the Corps changed my life and the way I look at it and made my subsequent education and careers possible. The discipline alone was worth the price of admission.
I did the same in 1990 with the U.S.A.F. with similar results... with a little less discipline! Military service is the ultimate cure for what High School lacks in focusing young minds.
