he Sukhoi Su-30 is a military aircraft that was produced by the Russian company Sukhoi in 1996. It is a dual-role fighter and costs 38 million dollars. The K variant costs 33 million dollars while the MKI variant Sukhoi Su-30MKI built for Indian Air Force costs 45 million dollars. It is a derivative of the Sukhoi Su-27. More than 140 of these planes will be constructed by Hindustan Aeronautics for the Indian Air Force.
The Su-30 is an excellent multi-role fighter, the Russian equivalent to the American F-15E Strike Eagle. It can carry an array of TV, IR, and radar guided missiles, as well as anti radiation missiles for SEAD missions, and of course unguided bombs and rockets. The maximum speed of any variant of the plane is mach 2.3. It, like all other Flankers, has a large fuel capacity, giving it a very long range and high combat endurance.
The design incorporates a straked delta wing, with strake and body blending, first seen in the American F-16 Falcon. This allows the airplane to fly at extreme angles of attack without stalling -- illustrated in the so called "cobra maneuver". Another characteristic of this airplane are thrust-vectoring engines. This allows the nozzles of the engines to be rotated alowing for fine control during low speed flight. The Su-37 takes this concept one level further with full three dimensional thrust-vectoring.
Two other Russian aircraft intended to serve as a tactical bombers and attack fighters are the Su-34, nicknamed the Platypus, and the Su-24 Fencer. Both are high supersonic aircraft, the Su-34 being yet another model of the Flanker s eries. The Fencer shares its basic design with the American F-111 fighter-bomber in that it is a variable-geometry, supersonic, tandem seat tactical bomber.

Nice looking airplane. I bet that on radar she's as hard to miss as Lindsay Lohan.
Awwwwww, How cute...and "She's" even got her "Uncle" F4 Phantom II's nose...and her "cousin" F14's engine intakes. [molasses-grade heavy sarcasm]
Really Neat-o Military Aircraft ping (link to jaw-dropping video on-thread).
Pretty amazing, it's like it's on a string.
Ah! what are you trying to say? You are thinking maybe iss stolen Amerikan teknologie, yes? Ha! No! Not stolen! Too nasty business and not necessary. Vass geeft from Klintoon Administration, mostly, but a few others before that send, uh, how you say, "presents" and vee go from there to, now, this.
How long has the U.S. had Harrier jets? STOL a/c have played only a limited role in military actions.
I didn't watch the video but this is little news, not big news.
PING
Niether the F-111 nor the Su-24 (Fencer) have tandem seating. Both have side by side seating. The generally similar, but smaller, Panavia Tornado ground attack fighter has tandem seating.

I always loved the Shuttleski.
"No, no, no... can't you see, your engine it is the orange, while ours is silver. The two are nothing alike."
I hope they don't sell this stuff to the Chinese, it will make future wars more difficult.
That is an awesome video - my retired Air Force brother-in-law will love it.
However, I think the Raptor could do circles around it.
Yeah...well atleast they had the brains not to deploy the dang thing...lol
Yes, I'm sure the Raptor will eat this for lunch, but the Archer missiles slung underneath (with the helmet mounted sighting system) could make for a bad day for our F/A 18's.
Have any of these jets ever been in a dog-fight or actually dropped a bomb?
Looks good at a air-show anyway.
