Three roommates were comparing their handguns in the drive-through of a fast-food restaurant Tuesday when one of the pistols accidentally discharged, killing a woman in the front seat. Police identified the victim as Teaira Richard, 19, 10769 Alco St., Apt. 3.
Nicole Latrise Daniels, 20, who listed the same address as Richard, was booked into Parish Prison on one count of negligent homicide. Bond was set at $40,000.
The incident happened about 3:30 p.m. at the Popeyes at 10706 Florida St.
Daniels was in the back seat looking at a pistol one of the other two roommates had just bought, police spokesman Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said. Another girl handed Daniels a second gun, and as she was looking at both of them, one accidentally discharged.
Richard, who sat in the front passenger seat, was struck in the upper back, McKneely said.
The third roommate, whom McKneely refused to identify, drove Richard to Earl K. Long Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
What did seem strange about Superman was that he would stand there and let the shooter empty the rounds in the gun without flinching but ducked when the gun was thrown at him.
And none of 'em thought to clear their 'effin' weapons before handin' 'em around?

Weapons in the concealed carry mode are ALWAYS loaded.
Stupid or untrained people will have a round in the chamber, safety off, and then handle them so that they point at someone.

I have yet to see an "automobile accidentally cross the center line" because of a drunk driver. Well, this is just as stupid. I feel bad for these kids. I am sure their intent was not malicious, just mischevious. Horrible lesson to learn.
I wander of their fathers ever sat them down and taught them about gun safety and responsibility. I wander if their fathers ever took them to a range and demonstrated a level of trust to their young boys.

With regards to weapons/concealed carry, LA considers the vehicle interior essentially an extension of the household. You do not need a concealed carry permit to maintain a loaded weapon in your vehicle.
Weapons are useless without a round in the chamber. That is the way to carry 'em if you carry concealed; any other way is nearly useless. Its up to the user to make certain that he does nothin' stupid.
But when you're handin' 'em around to "compare" 'em you need to remove the clip and clear the chamber. The guy who gets the weapon, at minimum, should check the the chamber, just in case you missed somethin'.
'Course I use a revolver, which is a little easier to clear... and harder to reload.

That is the way a gun to be used for edefense is supposed to be kept. Otherwise it is an expensive rock.

Ah youth. I can remember so many afternoon drives when we cruised around together and compared our guns...
we wait til we get out of the car to do this. then we pass them around and compare them. funny tho, sounds like a tap recital.. "ka-click, ka-click" everybody checking to see that its unloaded before passing it, and checking it as soon as its passed to them. we're always really careful about checking it as soon as we get it, even tho we've seen it checked two or three times already, never know when a bullet will magically apprear in the breech..
Yep, those guns are always going off on their own.

Yep. This is how I actually keep mine. I don't show it to anyone.
