It's moving pretty slowly, which is good. More time to weaken.

Maybe Hurricane "Bam-Bam" would be more appropriate.

Considering this a favorite tourist spot, and all of the resorts along the beach and really no hight above the ocean. A Category 4 storm with maybe the biggest storm surge on record, and probably no building codes for the resorts. This could be the storm with the biggest lost of life in history and would include a large number of Americans.
I hope and pray that only minor damage will occur, but considering what Mississippi and LA looked like after Katrina and the other hurricane, this could be a real disaster, with America busy with helping people in Florida help could be slow getting to the area.

I listened to a couple of dimwits on vacation down there spouting off about how they had never been through a hurricane and weren't evacuting back to the US.
Hope they won't be part of the body count when it is all over and done with.

Maybe Hurricane "Bam-Bam" would be more appropriate. Some areas could be redused to Rubble.

I hate to bust your bubble but their not all Mexicans. My son and his buddy are sitting in a downtown hotel riding it out. They were there to decompress after coming back from Iraq.
They might have had a chance to get out had not Delta cancelled all their flights yesterday, while American and others flew until almost 5:00PM.
All that aside they are the two best equipped people down there to get through because of their training.

I've planned on going to Cozumel in January to dive. I hope the place is up and running by then.

It doesn't look like it's made landfall yet to me, looking at the sat photos. Looks like Cozumel is getting the outer eywall, but the inner eyewall is still offshore.

Devon Anderson, 21, from Sacramento, Calif., was packed into a school with other Americans. He said the army never arrived to board up the windows.
"There's no food, no water," he said. "We've pretty much just been deserted."
Devon's first vacation without mommie & daddy.
