MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Virginia, Oct. 21, 2005 - Brenda Harris Tustian, a strong supporter of the Corps and Marine affiliated-organizations, donated two framed limited-edition prints of her patriotic Santa Clause paintings to the Base commander Col. James Lowe Oct. 3 in the foyer of Lejuene Hall.

The paintings were Tustian’s “God Bless America” Santa and “Let Freedom Ring” Santa.

“’Let Freedom Ring’ is a beautiful painting that celebrates the spirit of America, our freedoms and the blessing of our great country,” said Mike Kindrick at the unveiling of the paintings. “’God Bless America’ inspires pride and honor in all Americans… honoring our men and women in the armed forces, with each branch of the military is standing at attention, with the Marine Corps in front.”

Tustian also donated $30,000 from the charity sale of one of her paintings to the Marines Corps Law Enforcement Foundation.More recently, Tustian donated two paintings to the Quantico Officers Spouses Organization.

“We will be selling raffle tickets and raffle off the two painting Ms. Tustian donated,” said Rina McLuckie, president QOSO. “All the proceeds from the raffle will go to the Quantico Officers Spouses Organization Scholarship Fund.”

The raffle will be held Dec. 14 at The Clubs At Quantico during their Toys 4 Tots luncheon.

A full-time professional artist since 1978, Tustian is best known for her vibrant, highly detailed paintings of florals and annual limited-edition Santa prints, which she has created each year since 1993. She has showcased her work at numerous art exhibitions across the nation, establishing a wide collector base for her artwork and increasing her name recognition with the general public.

During Tustian’s career, she has received numerous awards for her work. Two of her pieces were chosen as the official posters for the Atlanta Dogwood Festival and the Atlanta Garden and Patio Show. In addition, she was the featured artist in the 1999 Winter Issue of Watercolor Magic magazine. In 2001, QVC featured Brenda’s paintings in a special two-hour presentation titled “Plaid’s Craft Showcase.” She also appeared on QVC in 2002, promoting and demonstrating her instructional book, Summer Sweets, published by Plaid Enterprises, Inc.

I dunno if I agree. She won't keep that smooth, wrinkle-free skin if she does. Some people were intended by nature to stay pale.

Evidence: my 95-year-old mother-in-law. She always had some kind of awful reaction to the sun so she hardly ever went out without a hat, parasol, and maybe a veil. The result? She's still gorgeous after nearly a century. Very few wrinkles or lines at all, and her skin is as soft as my eleven-year-old's.
