Since when is Bill Kristol a Bush loyalist???

Not when he supported McCain for president, for certain.

I'm not so sure.

Miers has cost him dearly.

It was a stupid move.

A significant number of conservatives didn't see him as being all that conservative along time ago. Domestic spending has been way over the top. They supported him because of how critical the Supreme Court appointments are. There was much discussion on this board on that front during both elections. He's let all those people down. For many that will be the last straw.

"This is not some manager at McDonald's chewing out the help," said a source with close ties to the White House when told about these outbursts.

Hmmmmmmm....
Interesting analogy....
Makes ya wonder what Dubya would be like had he ever had a REAL job.

And to some extent LBJ. Live TV in an open setting always betrays a person of power that is not in control.

I would think that - given the fact he wished to restore integrity to the White House - if these allegations about Rove are true, the President must be feeling profoundly disappointed in his long-time friend. IMO that disappointment lives in his heart and the pain is because someone he trusted failed him. If the allegations are not true, he must be extremely frustrated because he is not free to refute them at this time.

He should be bitter and angry because he has chosen to play "moderate"

He could have been angry and bitter from all the years of battering and obstruction from the Democrats, the RINOs, and the MSM.

But...surprisingly...he's held up very well.

Pray for President Bush - Day 1861
Pray for President Bush - Day 1860
Pray for President Bush - Day 1859

"This is not some manager at McDonald's chewing out the help," said a source with close ties to the White House when told about these outbursts. "This is the President of the United States, and it's not a pleasant sight."

This item from the article represents a compelling reason why the media should never be trusted in any case.

Just look at the words that I've highlighted. The article attributes a statement to a "source with close ties to the White House," but this source doesn't really provide any information at all -- he simply reacts to information that has been presented to him.

That's not a "source" at all -- it's someone presenting an opinion that carries no more weight than mine.

Well, at least we know Bush didn't turn out like that former manager at McDonald's, Terri Schindler's husband, Michael Schiavo.

Yeah, but the question is "professional" what?

Professional cheats and scumbags. I've heard a few journalists say they went into the business to influence the news. That's amazing to me. Most journalists are worse than the worst lawyers in my eyes

True. Like Al Gore showed his mean streak when he menaced Bush during the debates.

Bush's "Gandhian" reaction told me he was a guy I could vote for.

I think the truth lies in the middle somewhere. He can not be thrilled with the way things are going, but I think he's an optimist that can see through it. The only thing that is really dogging him is Harriet Miers, if you ask me. She has to step aside. A blunder plain and simply. As for the rest, Rove, Iraq, I don't know that it bothers him to distraction.

"He probably shouldn't have burned his base..."

Please stop this. It's getting wearisome. There are other important issues and this attitude drags everyone else down. Blaming Bush for one faction's inability to overcome its disappointment at not winning every battle is a cop-out, in my very humble opinion. Thank you in advance.

And you know he's got to be munching pretzels to beat the band.

I still love the man but he has to change and quick.

CFR - backpeddling flip flop
Swift Boat Vets - big diss and back hand slap
Kelo Decision - cold silence
Bankruptcy Bill - lack of understanding
Miers - out of touch and non transparent
Tax Reform - 2 years of talk to propose added taxes
Social Security Reform - bad timing during tax season
Border Control - what border control?
Illegal immigration - for jobs Americans don't want to do
Globalism - he's part and parcel to it
Islam - a religion of peace highjacked by its own ministers

He's had a few positives: Kyoto rebuff, Iraq elections and quite a few others.

But the real problem is his non-bonding with his conservative base.

All he needs to do is go on a 'listening tour' to his conservative strongholds and rally them to THEIR cause not his. That's the problem it's all about his vision rather than theirs. Bush is representing more of Bush than his conservative backing.

But he thinks he can be President of All the People when in reality he becomes President of not too many.

Conservatives are very influential but they can't be turned loose to work their magic if their President is not with them.
