My point is that if they are doing business in Canada, then they are exposed to lawsuits in Canada. If they don't do business in Canada, then it doesn't matter whether someone takes a gun across the border. They can't be sued in Canada unless they do business there.
So if they are doing business there, then they should stop doing business there, and get out, and then these threats of suing the US manufacturers will be just threats, and nothing more.

Right. An when we asked you to help secure out northern border by taking a more active role in screening just who you let into Canada as "refugees" from Muslim countries, we received in return a lecture about Canadian National Sovereignty. I suggest Mr Martin you go re-read it an apply it in reverse to this issue.

So if they are doing business there, then they should stop doing business there, and get out . . . . Isn't that called blaming the victim.

"The U.S. doesn't hesitate to speak out about our domestic policies where they feel they have an interest at stake - such as combatting (marijuana) grow ops (and) defence spending," he said. ...Continued "Fair enough. By the same logic, we will not hesitate to point out that gun crime is an issue of growing concern to Canadians." Right, and you ignore us on those issues, so we will ignore you on this one.

Precisely.
And this is a threshold moment for Condi.
Will she support the god given rights of men, or her globalist masters?

"If (gunmaker) Smith & Wesson says to us, 'Well, we're not responsible for tracking the weapons once they leave our factory' - that's not good enough guys," said the official.
This is a bizarre statement. Should S&W start putting a GPS in the handle of each new 45 ?

But I thought the national gun registry was going to protect Canadians from gun violence. How could gun crime be going up? The registry should be protecting all Canucks from those evil guns that are apparently killing people in Toronto by themselves.

The prime minister said up to half the gun crimes in Canada involve weapons smuggled from the United States.
All that statement means that somewhere between 0 to 50% of crimes in Canada involve weapons smuggled from the US.
(Living here now) I would guess anywhere between 0 - 0.25% of gun crimes here are committed with smuggled American guns. I say that because if they ever caught some of these criminals, and an American firearm was used, it would be ALL OVER the press here.
Breaking News: Capitalism Kills!!! Evil American Firearm used to MURDER Canadians.
or something to that effect.....

IIRC, Martin and his Liberal Party don't have a majority. He's just playing to his base.

No. It's called looking after your own interest. We can't control what Canada or any other nation does. If they get a one billion dollar judgment against S&W in Canada, and S&W isn't doing business there, then it's unenforceable in the US. If they are doing enforce business there, then my guess is that the US will give that judgment effect based on commity. And that means S&W is out of business.
If we want to stick it to Canada, then the only way I can think of doing that is to ID who their gun manufacturers are, and make sure that ours are treated the same as theirs. Otherwise, it's a violation of GATT and NAFTA.

The prime minister said up to half the gun crimes in Canada involve weapons smuggled from the United States. The PM admits that the US is doing every bit as good a job as Canada is since more than 50% are not coming from the US.
Martin is in CYA mode; they're spending $2 billion on the useless gun registry and gun crimes are increasing.
