MOSCOW, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Russia is developing stealth aircraft that use plasma screens to disperse radar waves, MosNews reported Monday.
Anatoly Koroteyev, the head of the Keddysh Research Center, said a mobile plasma generator creates a plasma screen that disperses radar. That differs from U.S. stealth technology, which designs aircraft wings and fuselages to reflect radar, he said.
Koroteyev said plasma screen technology can be used on any aircraft, including older models and that it is far less expensive than the stealth technology used on U.S. aircraft.

This Romulan Russian cloaking device is backwards, the plasma was supposed to be the weapon.

Curious...the Russians have always been clever with inexpensive solutions to complex problems...and remember, it was a Russian mathematician that came up with the equations for which US stealth tech is based.

I would think that Plasma would be too expensive and not very dependable in such an application.

I wonder if thet are using small nuclear energy sources as they have in their satellites for decades? This would probably get by the need for lots of energy.

I would think that Plasma would be too expensive and not very dependable in such an application. I would think that the plane would not be very aerodynamic after mounting all those plasma screens.

Yeah right! I'm not about to try that "candle in a microwave" experiment, I saw Steven Segall destroy
a battleship like that once.
Nice try.

I think it was in some Dostoyevsky novel that one of the characters observed that if someone gave a Russian a map of a completely uncharted area of the universe he'd return it the next day with corrections.
Imagine, a third-world country with first-world science. It boggles the mind.

Yeah, but any plasma TV bigger than 42 inches is just too expensive...
To: Flavius
Doesn't seem very stealthy if, rather than heat or radar reflections, it gives off a massive electromagnetic signature...
Any idea how they might get around that?

maybe they use a stealthy electromagnetic flux capacitor, doc.

Interesting because I had a similar idea 20 years ago for defeating police radar.
