Gay Marriage Bill Dead Till '07, Says Speaker (Dems Trying To Pull A 'Fast One' On Ca. & Nation?

State lawmakers will not return to the issue of gay marriage next year, when Democrats hope to retake the governorship and many legislators are up for re-election. Instead, any attempts to pass marriage equality bill in the statehouse will not come until 2007, said the leader of the assembly.

Speaker Fabian Numez (D-Los Angeles) confirmed during an interview with the Bay Area Reporter Friday, October 14 that gay marriage will not be a part of the Democrats' legislative agenda when lawmakers return in january to begin a new session.

"2007 is what we are looking at right now on reintroducing the marriage bill," said Nunez...

...Instead, Nunez said the Democratic agenda will focus on four issues in 2006: universal healthcare...raising the state's minimum wage by a $1...

...A one-year reprieve in the fight to see California become the first state to allow same-sex couples to marry without a court order would come as the gay community prepares to fight attempts to ban gay marriage in the state's constitution...It also comes as the National Democratic Party sees an opportunity to win back control of both houses of congress from Republicans, and would deprive the Republicans what has been a useful tool to rally their base and bring conservative voters to the polls...

It looks like the Democrats in California are about to try and pull a big time bait-and-switch: Push issues that they think will get people to vote for them, thereby hopefully bringing them to power once again, and then they will be able to ram through a gay marriage bill once they are fully back in power.

Nice.

I doubt most voters in California would vote the Democrats back into full power(through voting out Arnold) if they knew that they were then going to use the governorship and control of the legislature to ran through a gay marriage bill.

As well, I don't believe that the National Democrats are truly against gay marriage. Granted, a few are, but I believe that the lionshare of them have only went underground when it comes to the issue of gay marriage.

As the article pretty much says, the gay marriage issue cost John Kerry dearly, so no National Democrat is going to be dumb enough to openly back gay marriage.

California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein's now-infamous comment that the push for marriage equality "has been too much, too fast, too soon," was way off, and dead wrong. Any much is too much when it comes to gay marriage, as most Americans agree with.

The Democrats now know this all too well. But I doubt that will stop them from pushing forward with the gay marriage issue. They are just most likely going to move much more slowly on it and much more cautiously.

Check this out.

It looks like the Democrats intend to pull a bait-and-switch and a 'fast one' on Ca. and the nation as well.

Homosexual Agenda Ping.

Well, since Arnold signed four bills prommoting the "gay" agenda and practically giving homosexuals everything that marriage entails (legally) without the word "marriage" on the same day he vetoed an actual gay marriage bill, nothing means anything any more.

Freepmail me if you want on/off this pinglist. Oh, and freepmail DirtyHarryY2K too!

*Never* underestimate the ability of the Democrat part to demonize an opponent when said person comes between them and power.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. They'll be back with driver's licenses for illegals too. And other psychotic crap while worthwhile bills get murdered in committee.

I call bat guano! In 2003, A.B. 205 was passed and signed by Gray Davis. A.B. 205 extended to domestic partnerships virtually all the legal rights and responsibilities of marriage in California going so far to actually refer to marriage when defining the rights. Read the exact section of Family Code.

Now, since I've shown your anti-Arnold jihad for the smear it is, I say: put up or shut up.

Well. It's rather odd, isn't it, that liberals are in favor of gay marriage, yet I've *yet* to see any statistics as to whether or not gay people are in favor of it.

One suspects the Marxist Left's war against the family is the real agenda here. The party of no-fault divorce, pornography, and abortion have an agenda.

Instead, Nunez said the Democratic agenda will focus on four issues in 2006:...universal preschool.

Why universal preschool? Oh, that's right, GLSEN wants kids as young as it can get them.

Their private polls and real focus groups have shown them that the voters of California outside of LA, the Bay Area and Sacramento will not tolerate their Gay Agenda.

So they are backing off in public. Behind the scenes they will be pushing for the destruction of marriage between a man and woman 24/7/365.

The maggot infested perverts never stop pushing their agendas.

There was an article (one I pung out) about the other bills he signed the day he vetoed the "gay" marriage bill. They were all pro-gay agneda measures. Not all relating to marriage, I grant you, but all furthered "gay" crap.
